Awwww whatever happened to a hug and a kiss for the old man? I always hugged and kissed my parents when I left their home … but I suppose that’s the point of the cartoon. Give him a hug and kiss, please!
Yup, never know how long they will be around and I cannot imagine ever not putting down the cell phone, saying a proper hello, hugs thanks for taking care of the kids, anything you need, etc. Unless someone near and dear is texting you they are in the ER then nothing is so important to not stop texting and talk to your parents or whomever has been graciously watching your children…….Sad arc because it rings so true with so many people out there, can’t live without their phone on 24/7 kid right next to her on his phone.
Oddly as a senior myself I feel both sides of this issue. I hate seeing people of any age with their nose buried in their phones but I can accept it as the new normal. I agree with DDrazen above that you can join them to communicate in the way they’re comfortable with. You would be amazed at the response you can get instead of feeling ignored. I just visited my grandchildren a few weeks ago and found that I could get more one on one talking from mentioning something about what they were looking at on their phones. It opened up many discussions face to face.
