That’s me! That’s exactly me!--In my younger days (very young) my dream pair of shoes were Converse All-Stars. Once I got them I wore them all day long, every day. Nowadays I wear leather shoes all day long, every day, except for sports – different pairs of leather shoes, naturally. For sport shoes I wear the ones which give me best comfort, ‘cause I am overweight. And nowadays I even don’t want to be seen dead in Converse All Stars! It’s the same with base caps. Some years ago Germans started to wear base caps all day long like many lower class Americans do. I even don’t want to be found dead with a base cap on my head!Different nations, different styles.
Generally you are right about the running shoes. But I am not just overweight, Ialso have Asthma bronchialis. This limits my ability to run extremly.Nothing against to wear a ball cap when working or at sports. But as part of your casual clothes? We leave it to them who don’t know better.
It didn’t register with me how slow he was running until I remembered that my sustained walking speed in my 20’s was between 4 and 5 miles an hour. In other words he is barely running faster than I can walk.

I wear a wig. Serves the same purpose and covers my bald spot.
