    or, simply assign a fixed quota. If you want to buy something for yourself, you already know how much do you have, instead of expending all you got every time you got something. May learn the value of saving

    I get that Betty is trying to teach her son a valuable lesson about saving money, but I don’t think that should come at the expense of the most valuable lesson of all: the lesson that you are always the best you can be when you are being yourself. No mother should ever ask her children to change for anyone. Boo on you today, Betty!

    Smart Betty. Include the entire family in your plan to save. And present it to you son as needing his help. Everyone learns about finances and budgeting. Everyone learns how to save. Some will be better than others. .Betty is doing good.
