I got a percolator years ago with a wake timer. No matter how much I cleaned it, it would still impart a plastic/new electronics taste to my tea. Now they have the Breville Tea Maker. At $250, it’s too rich for my purse, but it looks like everything I’ve ever wanted in a teapot.
This is how you know that this is a Canadian strip. While I have one in my kitchen, an electric kettle is not the necessity in the average American household as it is there (and in England).
Use boiling water for black and herbal teas. There’s a lot of conflicting advice out there about what temperature water you’re supposed to use for oolong, green, and white teas. You’re supposed to let the water boil, then cool down to the proper temperature, but I’m not always that patient.
No matter what temp is required for which ever tea leaf – Always Start With Fresh Cold Water.I have seen some of those new fangled tea brewers. Setting the timer, setting the temp and telling it what kind of tea you’re brewing – and the darn thing will not only steep the tea, but tell you when its ready. …. But it is way too pricey.
Dear Betty, if you don’t know what it’s for, chances are you don’t need it.
Don’t take instructions of water temperature on different kinds of tea too seriously. Use them as a starting point and then experiment with hotter or colder. People don’t all have the same preference.
As for the Keurig comment… I stayed in a hotel with one of those once. Absolutely without a doubt the worst cup of tea I’ve ever had the misfortune to taste. I shall never want to have such a contraption in my house.

Boil water. Pour over astringent red fruit tea bag. Let steep 15 minutes. Drink barely warm. Lovely. :)

I love the Keurig for fast and easy. I can use it to make coffee or even tea because there’s a hot water reservoir on it that keeps water hot 24/7.

Boiling water will also make coffee bitter use a french press for tea or coffee though a vacuum pot will give you better coffee.

Too bad no one is making the old fashioned coffee pot you used on the stove. Haven’t been able to find one at all.

You left off horribly overpriced and hell on the environment with all that plastic waste for one tiny cup of coffee.
