I still have a couple of old phones, but gave up the land line when we moved. It was costing $56 a month for virtually no use. I’ll miss it the first time the power is out longer than a day.
Actually landlines do have a purpose. They have independent power sources, so if the power to the cell tower goes out you can call 911 or emergency services or just your contacts to let them know you are ok (or that you need something). Also, in the case of earthquake, the power companies first restore power to the land lines, because they are used by police and fire companies for their connections.
I can’t forget it, my parents still have the same phone number after over 50 years! I have even memorized the tune that the phone makes when I dial the number.

I prefer a landline for use in my house. For one thing, it doesn’t have to be recharged.

I still have a landline. I don’t have to worry about not being able to make a phone call when the power goes out.

I still have the landline phone I bought from the telephone company 30 years ago. No charging required and no losing it in the sofa cushions. :D

One minor plus for a landline, emergency services know exactly where you are calling from.

Some places, like where I live, don’t get good cell service. Mountainous places don’t.

We have a land line and are not about to change.. I see no need to have a phone in my hand every waking moment.
