Bingo! When I think back on all the stuff I used to accomplish, I realize it isn’t that I’m (a lot) older, but that I didn’t have the computer singing its siren song in the background.
I had a guy who worked for me who spent his entire day on YouTube. His computer was monitored and the screen shots showed what he was doing. Verbal and written warnings did nothing to stop it. A subtle comment that he had a mortgage, and a family to clothe and feed, taxes to pay and other sundry expenses, woke him up. I never liked to fire people unless as a last resort, but sometimes it was necessary.
