Good luck Nate, I feel bad for you.

One thing is being with your girl/boyfriend, but doesnt mean you have loads in common to having to do stuff together. Like forcing a guy to see a movie he would find boring. Hope it wont end up a case of “if you love it, set it free” and more a case of Trudy realizing Nate is bored around her friends (not to mention constantly teased).

Poor nate. You don’t have to do everything that trudy does!

Nate seems to be hesitating; is he going to go the cartooning club after all?

When you are in a relationship, you don’t see as much of your friends as you used to, due to trying to juggle time on sports/school/activities/family, and also trying to spend time with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Clearly, Nate is learning this the hard way. Also, if you look at the older comics or Blasts Off, Angie, Kelly, and Ruby never kept Nate from his friends like this! In this way Trudy is unique.

But generally speaking them breaking up is an utter extreme looking at whats been said and done so far. It all does seem to revolve back to the incident at the start just before they got together though.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned in any of the comments yet is that they are always doing things with Trudy’s friends – Nate never seems to invite Trudy to hang out with his friends. The biggest issue seems to be Nate unwilling to tell Trudy how he really feels, or to express to her his desire to do things with HIS friends sometimes, rather than always hanging out with hers. It’s probably because he’s afraid to lose her or disappoint her, but I’d be willing to guess that if he would just talk to her about it, she’d be open to doing things with his friends sometimes, or letting him hang out with them instead of her. And if not, then she’s not really the right person for him. Hard lesson for a 6th-grader, but necessary.
