Dawn, did you say that you live in Vancouver, BC. I went to art school in Vancouver and really enjoyed living there, but that was way back in 1969 to 71. I have lived in both Seattle and Vancouver and like that I can find my way around in both cities.
I didn’t hit my head. It hurt from the tension. My back may by a little wrenched. If I’m not on later tonight or tomorrow, it probably means we lost internet service due to lightning again. Our IP HQ is a couple hours away, so it takes longer to get things repaired. A severe t-storm is heading this way.
Right now it looks like the storms will go about 10 miles north of us. The watch is until midnight, so it is hard to say if another line will develop or not.
I have three comics pages to catch up on for this week, been a busy week and I have missed so much on here, and Daily Ink and comics. com! I guess I’ll just have to check my favorite ones and let the rest go! sigh!
It’s not too bad since I don’t have to write, but after eating and doing the dishes and changing into nightwear, my arms is getting a little sore even with Advil. Sigh. I knew I should have taught the cat how to cook and do the dishes. All he’s good for is eating and dirtying dishes. But he makes up for it in affection and cuddles.
DRY I know how you feel. It’s lonely when the weather is sunny and warm on one coast and cloudy and cool here. How’s your day been so far? Haven’t talked to you yet today.
Shika The storms seem to be going north of us for now. There’s another line a couple counties away that I’m watching on the radar that might get us, but at this point, we’re probably only talking high winds, small hail, torrential rain. They’re moving through pretty fast, so it won’t last too long. The areas closer to Kansas City is having worse weather than us.
RRAmom; Me neither. I think it’s okay now, but feels different. My fingers started to feel numb, so i figured i shouldn’t rest that arm on the arm rest.
Shika Not up close. Looked out our kitchen window several years ago, and saw one about 20 miles away. When one came much closer to where we used to live (within a mile) I was down in the basement, and didn’t have a view.

Not if you’re smart. But a lot of people like to go outside and watch. I’ve been to a couple of storm spotter classes, but I’ll leave that up to the pros. I don’t mind if it is several miles away, but if it is getting close, I’d rather be below ground. One of the problems watching is that you can be watching one direction, and it (or another one) can sneak up behind you.
My cousin was driving across western KS last year, and got picked up by one. Thanks to the storm spotters reporting it immediately, he’s doing fine. Had a punctured lung, so it could have been fatal if no one had noticed.
Hello everyone! My day went completely different from planned. After church I usually read the comics then take a nap, but today I decided to nap first, then comics. Well, I napped, when I got up I worked on bills and such and had an online chat with some friends, at the end of which we decided to meet at the Green Dragon to gaze upon the new shipment of beading supplies, etc. Well, one thing lead to another….not to mention purchases, and before I know it I’m here, at 10:15 frantically trying to finish up before I go to bed. Sigh. But…here are two comments for today. Better next weekend.
Carmy To answer your query of Saturday, I lived in Brownsville, Texas. The great state of Texas! Can’t wait to get back to Texas. Retiring in the Hill Country….hopefully. I’ve been through Carla and Beuhla…two retired hurricanes. I nerviously watched Camilla and Allen. My memorys shot, I know it’s beem more major storms that that, but those were quite enough thank you. My family just got through Ike, and are still dealing with the $$$ fallout of that little rainstorm. That’s why I won’t live in a manditory evacuation zone.
Jfri just laid out the bayleaves. Spouse says it must work, after I laid it around my desk they went on the warpath his way. We shall see.
Bmonk the first thing I did was go back…but no luck there. Ah well….live and learn.
To all the tribe…have a good week and I’ll try to chime in on the weekend. At least I’ll bring some breakfast goodies Saturday morning.
OKay, trying edit mode to see if this will assist in multiple responses. I hope so. Have a great week!!!
Drats, I missed Quaby!Doc, I heard about the tornadoes in CO. Is that weird? I didn’t think tornadoes hit in those parts.
I hope 2 Cows and a Chicken are okay! :)
Quaby: Sounds like a fun day1 No wonder you can’t stick around. Good to see you. Just hang the bayleaves on yourself, the cat and your spouse—and carpet the floor with them. That should do it!
When we had Stormy, or maybe it was Snowball, we went away for a few weeks with him to the cottage. When wwe got back home, we took one step on the carpet, and were covered in fleas up to our knees. UGH!! I’ve never been so creeped out in my life. Took a while to get them under control.
The worse tornado I’ve seen the aftermath was about 15 years ago. It killed 14 people in Andover (just east of Wichita) and a few more in SE Wichita. It was categorized as a F-5, but they’ve changed the scale since then, so don’t know what it would be on the current scale. I think the path was at least a mile wide, and it stayed on the ground for several miles.
The one that hit Greensburg, KS a couple years ago about wiped out the whole town. I haven’t been through that town since then, but they’ve done a lot of rebuilding. (It is a couple hours or more away.) They say that if the tornadoes that hit Greensburg and surrounding areas had been centered on Wichita, it would have been really bad. Thankfully, most tornadoes in KS hit farmland, so not much damage.
Well, time to sign off for the night. We’re right on the edge of a storm here, plus time to go to bed.
doc I read that a mall in Aurora got hit by a tornado. Eastern Colorado is part of tornado alley, but the Denver area isn’t normal as far as I remember. But then, what’s normal anymore?
Dawn I can unfortunately confirm the postal weather: it rained, snowed, sleeted, and hailed here.
I’m on my second batch of tomato plants, the first were killed by the late frost we had in May. This batch I got covered in time, but the plants on the ends of the row took some minor damage.
We’ve actually had tornadoes hit central Alberta even - Had one a few years back that decimated a major campground - if you think tornado+trailer park=disaster, try tornado+camper trailers.
Doc I had a roomate once from Meeker, CO. We compared notes and figured it was very similar to where I grew up. I would love to be able to buy my parents place when they finally decide to give up the farm. They still live on the last remaining 1/4 section of my great grandfather’s homestead from the late 1800s. It’s an ideal spot, about 1 mile from town on a paved road, sitting on the edge of a coulee looking down into a creek bottom and an 18 hole golf course. All around the house and along the edge of the acerage are old growth trees planted by my grandfather and great grandfather. 100% irrigated land, and the water table is high enough there is an artesian well about 50 feet from the house that runs a 1/2 inch stream year round. During the winter, it’s often one of the only non-frozen water sources, so they get deer, pheasants, etc. through the backyard frequently. My dad likes to hunt (we eat what we kill, and even get the hides tanned which my dad and uncle then make into gloves and moccasins). He has a trout pond, and gardens that are the size of housing lots here in the city.

Drats, I missed Quaby! Doc, I heard about the tornadoes in CO. Is that weird? I didn’t think tornadoes hit in those parts. I hope 2 Cows and a Chicken are okay! :)

There was a storm watch in Colarado?
Quaby: Sounds like a fun day1 No wonder you can’t stick around. Good to see you. Just hang the bayleaves on yourself, the cat and your spouse—and carpet the floor with them. That should do it!
When we had Stormy, or maybe it was Snowball, we went away for a few weeks with him to the cottage. When wwe got back home, we took one step on the carpet, and were covered in fleas up to our knees. UGH!! I’ve never been so creeped out in my life. Took a while to get them under control.

I hate to come and go like this, but my fingers are going numb again. I think I must be pinching a nerve or resting my left arm on the chair rest.
See you tomorrow. have a good night everyone.
Bon Nuit! (That’s Good night to all the Anglophones like me.)
Jfri: I converted your currency question on Andy Capp.
Rad: Hope you can visit longer nest time.
Night all!
