Dry, I am not really a fan of basketball. I don’t like how the NBA plays. Not really a team sport. I do enjoy playing basketball. If we are discussing weather, I will throw in a tidbit about Michigan: Those spring and summer mornings make it worth the miserable winters. Those winters make the rest of the seasons more special though. And being completely surrounded by lakes, the temperature never gets as extreme as other states.

Hello Tribe Pardon the shaky monitor as I try to warm up here. Temp’s in the 30’s, warmer than this morning but still too &(&*&(^ cold IMHO.

I was making poached apples in a cinnamon syrup sauce, and my good old reliable stove went from simmer to boil in 60 seconds. I have poached mush. I’m proceeding on, it may still taste good, but I sure would lose points on presentation….unless I finish the job and make it poached applesauce in cinnamon syrup sauce……

Still trying to clean the living room. Where does time go? Well there was the 1.5 hr snoozle yesterday afternoon….I guess that eats up time. And when I woke I did my preparatory routine for the Dragon (owner/friend is allergic to cats, so I try and shower on Saturday afternoons as the cat has been on my lap most of the morning),

Got to finish my tour of Go Comics while picking up here and there. I used to be able to go charge right through it, but no more. ‘What a drag it is getting old’.

    Good afternoon, tribe.

Well, we got our snow. See pic to the left. Spent the morning shoveling the drive behind my car and the sidewalk. Didn’t worry about the drive behind Mom’s car as she refuses to leave the house until it all melts. I measured 6 inches in the back yard. Would have been more, but we had some sleet in there too.

Getting some melting with sunshine today, but supposed to get down in the teens tonight, so expect BAD things tomorrow.

JFri, alright but I will have to wait. We are going to Edison this afternoon. There is a tavern there that has a band playing starting at 5:30 so we will get there early to try and get a table and have dinner. That is about the starting time for me and bands these days. good afternoon, Tribe. current temp in the GTA is around 23F with flurries (can i say that, Dry?) but no accumulation. glad Saucy is happy with her weather, but i hope she’s careful tomorrow (and i’m sure she will be). as for hometowns, i still live in mine. i was born within 10 miles of my current address and, except for 3 years away for school, have lived in the same county ever since. however, as i told my nephew who lives in NYC, home isn’t always where you’re from, nor is it always where you’re at. sometimes it’s who you’re with.

Hello LuvH8 If you’re first, check the Big Top pantry. I’ve been known to leave Krispy Kreams there, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

The poached applesauce turned out very good. I’ve left some in the Big Top fridge, help yourselves. Some vanilla ice cream to go on top just because.

I’ll be leaving for the back pretty soon. Didn’t sleep that much last night…some my fault, some Welbutren’s fault. After watching Demons at midnight I just had to watch SyFy’s ‘Meteor Store’, Like they’re niever going to show it again…..

But in a month or two my ‘puter should be out of the living room and in my room. I’ll be able to have it on until I do go to bed. Who knows, maybe I’ll even make a turnover on Friday night and serve breakfast. Until then….

    Peace and love to all

never seen more than a trailer or a few clips, but it’s reputed to be very funny. it never made it up to Canada that i’m aware of, but was very popular on one of the science fiction tv channels in the usa. as for George, i saw him on the Ed Sullivan show, and on later tv shows as well. one of his bits i remember from the Tonight Show had him making “phone ringing” sounds to begin and positing that phones “rang” because they were invented by Alexander Graham Bell. he then began to speculate on how the phone would be had it been invented by a man named Alexander Graham Siren. incomparable!

Hi, tribe! Welcome, L8! It’s cold here - I don’t think it got above freezing today. We’ve still got snow on the ground. My hubby decided he was going to teach our 20 year old some “finer techniques of driving” - in other words, quick 180 degree turns using the parking brake, while I started dinner. Low & behold, I had to drive the van to where they had gotten off the road, and pull them out. (Still in our development, so not far, and no traffic.) Do males ever grow up?

So, as soon as I can get the younger son’s schoolwork to the point he can carry on without me, I’ll have to dash in and work on Mom’s stuff each day. i’m a single guy with a quirky memory. it seems that as long as i write the note, i remember what it was about. i often forget the notes i write, not so much the items on them. i also shop with the philosophy that, if i forgot it, it couldn’t have been overly important. (and i usually have a supply of things that are important that gets replenished before it gets used up to allow for my memory lapses.) probably wouldn’t work near as well if i wasn’t my only responsibility. besides, it’s fun to shop for Christmas presents at the last minute!

The name was borrowed from my pet at the time. She stepped on her rainbow in 2007, but will likely live a long time in screen names. The little lady pictured is Moxie who came along a few weeks later in 2007. She is an SPCA special advertised as a chow mix. If there is any chow in her, I expect it is a small amount as she looks like a golden.

Mom didn’t make pasta on the kitchen table–we were German descent, not Italian–but she did make strudel there.

The trick is to have a nice warm room and pull it paper thin. Helps to have 3 or 4 good pullers along to do it right.

And then, if you’re my mom, you make potato knepfle soup with the thick edges as the knepfle (mini-dumplings).

Not so much in those days, but I’m better now.

I was a good eater, both then and now.

@Terry, I do remember WFLD ch.32 Chicago–It was one of the older UHF channels. And an early Fox station. Mostly cartoons in those days–at least that’s what I remember.

My Mom and her 2 sisters would get together and make dozens of tamales. They had like an assembly line going on there. Our freezer would be well stocked with delicious tamales. YUM!

Roy (the Cockney Englishman) was a jolly good chap. Unfortunately, he had a classic Catch 22:

He could get a clergy visa and join us–but he had to be in the order for two years first.

The only way to join the order for two years was to get a visa.
