Good morning all!
No football today, I don’t know what I am going to do with myself.
Anyhow, I need sleep, so I’ll hit the hay. Peace and love all! (again)
LONEWOLF Thanks for the offer but I’ll just have one stale crumb of bread with a sip of warm water to wash it down. Woe is me, the end of January and I haven’t lost my 30 pounds. I will wear sackcloth and heap ashes upon myself.Or I could pig out today and say tomorrow is a new month. Pile up my plate, I’m going to go for it.
Good morning all. I just thought I’d stop by to say HI on my way to bed. I just feel extra tired today so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get up early enough to drop in again today. So I’ll see everyone later or maybe tomorrow. Fortunately this is my last night for a few days. You wouldn’t believe how many spelling mistakes I’ve had to correct just in this short note. Hope I’ve got them all.
LuvH8 I’ll accept what you said, Doc explained the rules, so drop by whenever. Oh, he did forget one rule, first poster makes breakfast for all who folllow after! :-D
johnny Yes, I would sooner play baseball than watch it, sometimes, most times, it’s slow to watch but fun if you’re there in person. Just doesn’t have the action of football. Now basketball I love to watch, esp. when my kid played.
peach you will see that we are a group of good folks. We stand up for one another and dislike deception. I have liked your avatars as I have always thought that I was meant to live in the tropics. What I am doing in the PNW I will never know.
Good Morning celecca.
I grew up in North Dakota and moved to WA just before my senior year of High School and have lived here and in Vancouver, BC. I also used to spend my winters first in the Florida Keys and then the Rio Grande Valley.
Dry, I am not really a fan of basketball. I don’t like how the NBA plays. Not really a team sport. I do enjoy playing basketball.
If we are discussing weather, I will throw in a tidbit about Michigan: Those spring and summer mornings make it worth the miserable winters. Those winters make the rest of the seasons more special though. And being completely surrounded by lakes, the temperature never gets as extreme as other states.
Hello Tribe Pardon the shaky monitor as I try to warm up here. Temp’s in the 30’s, warmer than this morning but still too &(&*&(^ cold IMHO.
I was making poached apples in a cinnamon syrup sauce, and my good old reliable stove went from simmer to boil in 60 seconds. I have poached mush. I’m proceeding on, it may still taste good, but I sure would lose points on presentation….unless I finish the job and make it poached applesauce in cinnamon syrup sauce……
Still trying to clean the living room. Where does time go? Well there was the 1.5 hr snoozle yesterday afternoon….I guess that eats up time. And when I woke I did my preparatory routine for the Dragon (owner/friend is allergic to cats, so I try and shower on Saturday afternoons as the cat has been on my lap most of the morning),
Got to finish my tour of Go Comics while picking up here and there. I used to be able to go charge right through it, but no more. ‘What a drag it is getting old’.
Cleo, that has been happening to me to. Did you have another window open and leave BT thinking the post had saved? I thouhgt maybe that was my problem so I wiat until my post is on my screen where it should me.
Well, we got our snow. See pic to the left. Spent the morning shoveling the drive behind my car and the sidewalk. Didn’t worry about the drive behind Mom’s car as she refuses to leave the house until it all melts. I measured 6 inches in the back yard. Would have been more, but we had some sleet in there too.
Getting some melting with sunshine today, but supposed to get down in the teens tonight, so expect BAD things tomorrow.
JFri, alright but I will have to wait. We are going to Edison this afternoon. There is a tavern there that has a band playing starting at 5:30 so we will get there early to try and get a table and have dinner. That is about the starting time for me and bands these days. The older I get the earlier I get up and go to bed.
good afternoon, Tribe.
current temp in the GTA is around 23F with flurries (can i say that, Dry?) but no accumulation. glad Saucy is happy with her weather, but i hope she’s careful tomorrow (and i’m sure she will be). as for hometowns, i still live in mine. i was born within 10 miles of my current address and, except for 3 years away for school, have lived in the same county ever since. however, as i told my nephew who lives in NYC, home isn’t always where you’re from, nor is it always where you’re at. sometimes it’s who you’re with.
and Quaby? i would gladly partake of the poached applesauce mush with cinnamon syruo sauce and to hang with the presentation! for me, food is all in how it tastes, not how it looks.
Dry the place we are going for are noted for their oysters. The band is called the Bow Diddlers, a play on both the musician and the town of Bow nearby.
for some folks it’s kind of like in the M.A.S.H. episode where Hawkeye tells Radar that he takes a little piece of Iowa with him where ever he goes. i think i’m a bit like that when i travel - i’m still me, just exploring new surroundings.
yyyguy, I really love being on the road exploring places. I sold my RV this summer, but that was great because your home was always there with you. We lived in it all winter.
Okay so:
Play nice! - I be good!
No Politics - Great, politics make me feel stupid!
No Religion - Cool, religious lectures scare me!
If first make breakfast - Okay, am I allowed to serve pizza?
WEATHER: 49 degrees and gloomy enough to make Eeyore happy
And I was thinking maybe if you want to shorten my name I could be L8. I usually am anyway.
Maybe I’ll make you my infamous alphabet/symbol pancakes someday. Warning though some of them turn out looking like male body parts and I serve them with the option of whip cream.
Geesh! I’ll have to take notes just to know who all to list. But at least I won’t have to worry too much about my spelling since there is a rule to play nice.
Hello LuvH8 If you’re first, check the Big Top pantry. I’ve been known to leave Krispy Kreams there, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
The poached applesauce turned out very good. I’ve left some in the Big Top fridge, help yourselves. Some vanilla ice cream to go on top just because.
I’ll be leaving for the back pretty soon. Didn’t sleep that much last night…some my fault, some Welbutren’s fault. After watching Demons at midnight I just had to watch SyFy’s ‘Meteor Store’, Like they’re niever going to show it again…..
But in a month or two my ‘puter should be out of the living room and in my room. I’ll be able to have it on until I do go to bed. Who knows, maybe I’ll even make a turnover on Friday night and serve breakfast. Until then….
hey johnny it’s dark here now, but it’s 6 pm. I’m glad it won’t be dark out anymore when I leave work. That only lasts for a short time, but it is SO depressing. Now if it was dark and 80 degrees, I wouldn’t mind!
Dry It has been nice having the daylight stick around longer. It makes it feel like I am not living in a cave anymore and we have a house that lets in a lot of light.
I never really saw Carlin’s stand up, only saw him play small roles in comedies.
Speaking of comedies, has anyone ever heard of Mystery Science Theatre 3000? Think I might go watch that right now…
never seen more than a trailer or a few clips, but it’s reputed to be very funny. it never made it up to Canada that i’m aware of, but was very popular on one of the science fiction tv channels in the usa. as for George, i saw him on the Ed Sullivan show, and on later tv shows as well. one of his bits i remember from the Tonight Show had him making “phone ringing” sounds to begin and positing that phones “rang” because they were invented by Alexander Graham Bell. he then began to speculate on how the phone would be had it been invented by a man named Alexander Graham Siren. incomparable!
Hi, tribe!
Welcome, L8!
It’s cold here - I don’t think it got above freezing today. We’ve still got snow on the ground. My hubby decided he was going to teach our 20 year old some “finer techniques of driving” - in other words, quick 180 degree turns using the parking brake, while I started dinner. Low & behold, I had to drive the van to where they had gotten off the road, and pull them out. (Still in our development, so not far, and no traffic.) Do males ever grow up?
Dry Red is another classic! our comedy network (love their slogan - “Time Well Wasted”) runs it daily.
Rmom speaking as a male, i’d have to answer your question with a resounding, “NO!”
Cleo I told you before I liked your avatar, but this one just SO SUITS YOU! Speaking of males and females, first I thought Saucy was female, then I decided Saucy was male, and now that you called Saucy a she, I’m not sure.
cleo i am officially envious of you, sir. i only ever heard them on record. saw a couple of their movies but didn’t find them quite so funny as the albums were.
YGuy ROFLMAO! I need to track some of those Cheech and Chong skits down, I only ever heard them on tape, (dating myself again) I may have seen them on TV once, but can’t recall. Class, class, priceless!
Well, I guess my hopes are dashed…
I was SO tempted to let one of them walk back to get the van, but seeing as my hubby usually helps cook dinner, I decided I’d be nice.
Well, I think I am going to run over to my friends place and watch MST3K, which is pretty funny I think. I don’t really watch Cheech and Chong, but I might give them a try.
I do like Red Green, though. That show is hilarious!
bbl
“naah, they don’t give you the dope, man. they just give you the paper to roll it in.”
they used the bit in one of their movies that i watched in the theatre (i think it was their first one, but it might have been ‘up in smoke’ that i’m thinking of).
I wonder if we should ask newcomers to state whether they are male of female right from the first. I can’t remember who it was now, but I kept referring to someone as a male until I was finally apprised of the fact that he was a she.
cleo I’ve been at church most of the day. I won’t tell you what I was doing there, because of the no religion rule.
Tonight, I shall attempt to read two long passages, form two tutorial questions that need to be emailed tonight, and inbetween times, I hope to bake a date and nut loaf for the first time.
My weekend just flew by, and I’ve been wanting to bake this for a few weeks. I’ve never done it before.

”Oh, he did forget one rule, first poster makes breakfast for all who follow after!
Terry - I decided my firstborn sucked all my energy out of me while I was pregnant with him. I used to have all sorts of energy, and then when I got pregnant, the first sign was a sudden loss of energy. He’s been energetic ever since! (The picture of him on the scale had his arms & legs a blur, because he wouldn’t lie still.)
Shika Every time that I bake if I am low on an ingredient I put it immediately onto our shopping list. Same thing when I make granola. I have a horrible memory.
cleo I do the same with making a list. But sometimes I forget to bring the list. Other times I bring the list but forget to check it. I think I am hopelessly lost here.
Thanks, Terry! It looks like my time here is going to be pretty scarce starting tomorrow. They’ve made me an offer on Mom’s house that meets the conditions. So, as soon as I can get the younger son’s schoolwork to the point he can carry on without me, I’ll have to dash in and work on Mom’s stuff each day. One of the conditions is to have closing in 60 days, instead of 30, so we’ll have more time to get it cleaned out.
Cleo, I make grocery lists and also “To Do” lists. I already have my to-do list for tomorrow and it keeps getting longer as I remember what I need to do.
Speaking of grocery lists: I know this has been around, in Fact I think someone here sent me this, but anyway, it’s 7 1/2 minutes long, but it’s HILARIOUS! I may even have posted it once, don’t remember
i’m a single guy with a quirky memory. it seems that as long as i write the note, i remember what it was about. i often forget the notes i write, not so much the items on them. i also shop with the philosophy that, if i forgot it, it couldn’t have been overly important. (and i usually have a supply of things that are important that gets replenished before it gets used up to allow for my memory lapses.) probably wouldn’t work near as well if i wasn’t my only responsibility. besides, it’s fun to shop for Christmas presents at the last minute!
well Tribe i’ve toured all my toons, puzzled out all my puzzles, and was friendly with my friends, but my time here for today is gone. time to get some supper in me and do some laundry (and maybe a bit of TV since Nature and Mythbusters are on tonight). After that, back to my usual working week. Stay well, and stay happy, (and stay safe - for those in snowy/icy areas). back tomorrow, God willing and the creek don’t rise!
The name was borrowed from my pet at the time. She stepped on her rainbow in 2007, but will likely live a long time in screen names. The little lady pictured is Moxie who came along a few weeks later in 2007. She is an SPCA special advertised as a chow mix. If there is any chow in her, I expect it is a small amount as she looks like a golden.
sorry i ran off to do my hw. done now was going to go to bed at 10 but insted im watching a movie with dad its looking good so far. it goes of at 12 so ill be up till then at least. lol no body tell my tribe moms
At least your doing your homework Tabby.
Terry, most of my homework is reading, which isn’t too terrible, but it is boring, and I am a very slow reader. So I fall behind in that regard.
Carmy its okay, no worries at all. wow is right wow. and now this movie is gonna make me cry… its candles on something street. its good.
the mom is dying of cancer, full blow cancer. and shes a single mom her son is 12 and shes trying to find a place fo rhim. she moved back to her home town and found her best friend and his wife. its great. im about to cry. hold me
@Terry, I do remember WFLD ch.32 Chicago–It was one of the older UHF channels. And an early Fox station. Mostly cartoons in those days–at least that’s what I remember.
My Mom and her 2 sisters would get together and make dozens of tamales. They had like an assembly line going on there. Our freezer would be well stocked with delicious tamales. YUM!
Caught up. I was reading all these comments that I thought were from JFri and they end up being from Carmy. The coloring and general outline of your new avatar fooled me in to thinking JFri (as Frankenstein) was posting. That will teach me to speed read.
Cleo, this is my Valentine avatar. Isn’t it sweet? It’s from “Nightmare before Christmas.”
Hey (((((Doc))))) it’s going to take some time getting your sleep back on schedule, but it will happen.
I’m getting ready to go sleepers. No turnover for me.

LuvH8 welcome, I have seen you around the strips lately.

Thank you all!
And I was thinking maybe if you want to shorten my name I could be L8. I usually am anyway.
Maybe I’ll make you my infamous alphabet/symbol pancakes someday. Warning though some of them turn out looking like male body parts and I serve them with the option of whip cream.

slowly but surely, yguy, but with that also means we’re older than we were in Nov., Dec. and so on! Can’t win for losing, eh?

Hello Lonewolf, Dry, yyyguy, and cleokaya
Geesh! I’ll have to take notes just to know who all to list. But at least I won’t have to worry too much about my spelling since there is a rule to play nice.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
5:53 here, you can see outside, but I wouldn’t consider it light still. Twilight maybe?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
*L8*, I often have to take notes as well.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Ah yes, the one problem with two letter names is they often don’t bold well. of course with your avatar, your arrival does not bold well either. LOL
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yes, I learned to read the names instead of just the avatars, since people change those.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
You are on a site where most everyone here changes their avatars on a regular basis, for one reason or another.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Oh, so that’s why I sometimes don’t do bold well.
cleokaya - I’m a happy grim reaper!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago

Peace and love to all

hey johnny it’s dark here now, but it’s 6 pm. I’m glad it won’t be dark out anymore when I leave work. That only lasts for a short time, but it is SO depressing. Now if it was dark and 80 degrees, I wouldn’t mind!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
See you Quaby.
LuvH8 are you male or female?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry It has been nice having the daylight stick around longer. It makes it feel like I am not living in a cave anymore and we have a house that lets in a lot of light.

yyyguy almost 15 years ago
JDoc you are allowed to turn on a lamp.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
I never really saw Carlin’s stand up, only saw him play small roles in comedies. Speaking of comedies, has anyone ever heard of Mystery Science Theatre 3000? Think I might go watch that right now…
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
never seen more than a trailer or a few clips, but it’s reputed to be very funny. it never made it up to Canada that i’m aware of, but was very popular on one of the science fiction tv channels in the usa. as for George, i saw him on the Ed Sullivan show, and on later tv shows as well. one of his bits i remember from the Tonight Show had him making “phone ringing” sounds to begin and positing that phones “rang” because they were invented by Alexander Graham Bell. he then began to speculate on how the phone would be had it been invented by a man named Alexander Graham Siren. incomparable!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Johnny never heard of that one, and you should check out some of Carlin’s stand up, also Cheech and Chong if you haven’t.
*Anybody, esp. we Catholics, remember Cheech and Chong’s bit about Sister Mary “Elephant”?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Yguy one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES IS RED GREEN! I was so sorry he ended that show! Our PBS station ran it, still does, every week.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
i remember it very well, Dry also “let’s make a dope deal” and “Dave’s not here” among many others. “”Alice Bowie” comes to mind as well.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
class… class… class…
SHUT UP!cleokaya almost 15 years ago
See you LuvH8.
johnnyd when I had a TV I used to occasionally watch Mystery Science Theater 3000.
I got to see Cheech and Chong in Vancouver before they hit it big and they were terrific.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
Dry Red is another classic! our comedy network (love their slogan - “Time Well Wasted”) runs it daily. Rmom speaking as a male, i’d have to answer your question with a resounding, “NO!”
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Rmom, to answer your question. No.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo I told you before I liked your avatar, but this one just SO SUITS YOU! Speaking of males and females, first I thought Saucy was female, then I decided Saucy was male, and now that you called Saucy a she, I’m not sure.
Saucy are you male or female, if I may ask.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
cleo i am officially envious of you, sir. i only ever heard them on record. saw a couple of their movies but didn’t find them quite so funny as the albums were.
carmy almost 15 years ago
I saw Cheech and Chong in the super 70’s, I was right in front of the stage, they were hilarious.
Hello Everyone!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
YGuy ROFLMAO! I need to track some of those Cheech and Chong skits down, I only ever heard them on tape, (dating myself again) I may have seen them on TV once, but can’t recall. Class, class, priceless!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Geez Dry, if Saucy is a male I have really been a noodge. All along I have assumed female and only because of the name.

Hello Shika & Tabby.
Dry that’s because I am always making dirty old man comments. snerk
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
hi’s to Shika, Tabby, & Carmy cleo i was pretty sure saucy was a female type person, but i could well be wrong. (not that THAT would be anything new…)
carmy almost 15 years ago
I have an album of Cheech and Chong, It’s the one where in a car and when you pull out the sleeve, there’s reefer hid inside the doors, etc.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Well, I think I am going to run over to my friends place and watch MST3K, which is pretty funny I think. I don’t really watch Cheech and Chong, but I might give them a try. I do like Red Green, though. That show is hilarious! bbl
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Gee Carmy that’s the same temp as here.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
“naah, they don’t give you the dope, man. they just give you the paper to roll it in.” they used the bit in one of their movies that i watched in the theatre (i think it was their first one, but it might have been ‘up in smoke’ that i’m thinking of).

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I wonder if we should ask newcomers to state whether they are male of female right from the first. I can’t remember who it was now, but I kept referring to someone as a male until I was finally apprised of the fact that he was a she.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Or was it the other way around?
I get so confused.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago

cleo I’ve been at church most of the day.
I’ve never done it before.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
There is a Pearland, TX. I thought that it was pearl and peach as well. But pearland peach makes perfect sense.

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LOL cleo I am making a cranberry nut loaf as well1 But the recipe is for date and nuts. Great minds think alike.
I find dates too sweet sometimes.
I was already to bake two weeks ago, and discovered I didn’t have any baking powder, flour or baking soda. Did I mention I hardly ever bake?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
But I have all the ingredients now, so I think I am ready to roll.
Hi bmonk! How does one Shika through? Like I do? Zip in and out?

well, i’m back again (for now). @Terry kids are supposed to wear out their elders. how else are we to know we aren’t in the shape we once were?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Terry - I decided my firstborn sucked all my energy out of me while I was pregnant with him. I used to have all sorts of energy, and then when I got pregnant, the first sign was a sudden loss of energy. He’s been energetic ever since! (The picture of him on the scale had his arms & legs a blur, because he wouldn’t lie still.)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Shika Every time that I bake if I am low on an ingredient I put it immediately onto our shopping list. Same thing when I make granola. I have a horrible memory.

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
cleo I would have bought three items. None of them right!

i’m a single guy with a quirky memory. it seems that as long as i write the note, i remember what it was about. i often forget the notes i write, not so much the items on them. i also shop with the philosophy that, if i forgot it, it couldn’t have been overly important. (and i usually have a supply of things that are important that gets replenished before it gets used up to allow for my memory lapses.) probably wouldn’t work near as well if i wasn’t my only responsibility. besides, it’s fun to shop for Christmas presents at the last minute!

The name was borrowed from my pet at the time. She stepped on her rainbow in 2007, but will likely live a long time in screen names. If there is any chow in her, I expect it is a small amount as she looks like a golden.

carmy how was your weekend?
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Mom didn’t make pasta on the kitchen table–we were German descent, not Italian–but she did make strudel there.
The trick is to have a nice warm room and pull it paper thin. Helps to have 3 or 4 good pullers along to do it right.
And then, if you’re my mom, you make potato knepfle soup with the thick edges as the knepfle (mini-dumplings).
carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, the weekend was okay. It was quiet and I was able to take some good naps. How about your weekend?
carmy almost 15 years ago
Were you a good puller, bmonk?
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Not so much in those days, but I’m better now.
I was a good eater, both then and now.
@Terry, I do remember WFLD ch.32 Chicago–It was one of the older UHF channels. And an early Fox station. Mostly cartoons in those days–at least that’s what I remember.
