hi WoodEye, marg, JFri, cleo, JDoc, and those who show up later (since i may not get on again on Friday proper). hope everyone has a good day. i’ll skip breakfast today as i’ve opened up a bottle of Crown Royal in celebration of the Canadian Women winning gold in Vancouver Thursday night. i still remember refereeing a couple of the young ladies from when i was involved in hockey - it’s nice to have a connection, however tenuous. and the American women played superbly, too. victory is sweeter when the opponent is worthy - and they would have felt the same if the positions were reversed. but enough babbling.
and since it seems like there’s noone else here at the moment (and it’s rather late) i think i’m going horizontal. i’ll have to play catch up later on.
Good morning and Happy Friday!! Thanks for the breakfast, cleoluvh8 that’s a very scary thought. Glad I read it in the morning instead of before going to bed.
Good Morning All!Cleo, I’m having the chicken fried steak and some farm fresh eggs. YUM! Thank you!!
WoodEye, What have I told you before? HairLip, HairLip!
LuvH8
What did you mean with your comment on Calvin & Hobbes last night? I know that when I tested in Meyers Briggs years ago I was an ISTJ…an a very strong introvert. Did you mean that we are all borderline introvert/extroverts?
And no your posts are not at all bad, LuvH8, compared. Even posters that I normally like reading can be awfully nasty toward either JAD or to anyone who don’t agree with their P.O.V.
Grog Since I commented twice last night I’m not sure which you are referring to. I am an ENTP but all my scores were borderline.
Most people aren’t borderline introverts or extroverts but in certain circumstances (private vs public, happy vs sad or angry, familiar vs strange, etc.) will display characteristics opposite of what is ‘normal’ for them. Just like someone who is normally calm, might become really emotional if something sets them off.
I was a borderline J, but was nowhere near a boderline I. Most of the people I tested with at the time were borderline in other areas, but were a little more defined introverts or extroverts.
And I am aware of the “discussion” that bunnyface and Johanan Rakkav are having on the subject, and I agree with bunnyface that Calvin is an introvert. In fact, I see much of me in him when I was that age.
I do like (Blows Raspberry). I was teasing people who get too serious with the comments sometimes but it is still true that someone may be extraverted with there family and introverted in public. Or introverted in general and extroverted in a comment section. (I would never have guessed introvert for you.)
Good morning, tribe!
I thought of our Doc when I read this:
http://www.seattlepi.com/fun/comic.asp?featureid=PardonMy_Planet
LuvH8 - I’m normally an extrovert, but when I have a migraine, I’m an introvert!
Edit: Ooops! That link didn’t work properly, although if you look for “Pardon My Planet” you can get there. I’ll let someone who is better at posting links put up a correct link.
I’m not sure what to think of Mr Doty, but he does seem to respond to feedback if you do not give it in a disparaging way. I have seen him improve several times when people are positive towards him in general. I do respect him more than a lot of the commentors who are viewed as negative.
I haven’t been giving as much positive feedback as before because I still am afraid of the people who have been negative towards me picking on those I am positive towards especially if they already pick on that person to begin with.
LuvH8
I have to agree with you there, LuvH8. I am more extraverted with people I know. If I am at a party with a bunch of people I don’t knowI tend to stick like glue to the people I know. I am not a “mingloid”
I liked the blow rawberries comment, too. People like Johanan appear to like to flex their intellectual muscles and should learn to lighten up. And no JAD isn’t all that bad. He can be funny, but I can understand why people get upset when they get unsolicited explanations.
There, I’ve said it and hopefully that’ll be the last I say on the subject.
As far as being borderline introvert/extravert, or the other Meyer-Briggs (Jungian) personality styles, there is little borderline in my personality when it comes to being introverted or intuitive. The closest I come is thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving is not too extreme–but the other two are quite one-sided.
In that regard, I preferred the imaginary breakfast that was offered here first…
Dry, I’ve noticed a long time ago that comics.com does not have the same strip posted as gocomics. I also recall someone saying that a particular newspaper has yet a third strip running for One Big Happy
I read the current One Big Happy on the WA post comics website, along with Mary Worth, Mutts, Piranha Club, Sherman’s Lagoon, Six Chix and Mother Goose & Grimmy.
I’m off to run some errands, BBL.
Grog brought up your name first (points finger). I like you the way you are.
When I looked up my description the other day one of the pages suggested ‘dictator’ first for job types. LOL! I knew it was supposed to be a natural leader, but warn me if I try to take over the world (too much).
LuvH8 - That would be interesting to have that test on my siblings & myself. My husband says that we all fight for control in our family, which is pretty much true with the exception of one brother. I’m the baby of the family, and my parents made me their trust’ trustee & estate executor . This means I have to frequently remind my siblings that decisions are up to ME, not them. (I don’t think they still get it.) At first I was nice and shared information, but when they started trying to order me to do this or that, I shut off the flow of information. I will be SO glad to get Mom’s estate settled!
LuvH8
I would not call it pointing fingers, because I happen to agree with bunnyface. In fact, I am sure that I, too, have expressed my feelings on the subject to Johanan.
bmonk Good prayer. Of course the one about dying is for those who had “Rockabye baby” sung to them as children. I still wake up screaming when I dream of a cradle. :-D
Rmom you could probably find the test online somewhere and definitely at the library. I don’t envy you being in charge of the estate. I am glad I won’t have final say after my mom dies, actually I will be happy to leave it up to my brother, I’d rather get nothing than fight over stuff. It is fun to tell my mom that I am glad she is taking such good care of my stuff though.
Hey Grog I expressed my feeling also but it was at the end of the day. From the information given I wouldn’t want to guess whether Calvin is introverted or extroverted in general.
And I was teasing about pointing fingers. I don’t type something about someone I am not willing to have them read in the context it appears in.
LuvH8 - I did everything I could think of to avoid fights over who got what, and that part seems to be okay, as long as it was itemized. When Mom was still alive, my siblings tried to tell me how to manage her money. Now that her house has a contract, so it needs to be cleaned out for the buyers, my siblings keep trying to give stuff away to people outside of the family. We will have an estate sale, so if the estate can sell it to someone, we shouldn’t be giving it to my siblings’ friends. Once the sale is over, okay, but not until then. That’s why I have to spend so much time over there, because I can’t trust my siblings to follow my orders when I’m not right there. I’d be over there now, but my hubby is having a colonoscopy this afternoon, and so I have to be his designated driver.
LuvH8 and Rmom, fortunately, there is no estate to fight over in my family. Not yet, anyhow.
Even though it isn’t quite noon yet, I am going to take a nap. I am not registering things properly right now.
I’m sorry Rmom I hope it is over soon. It’s hard to deal with all that stuff while you are still grieving.
Probably your family is all dictators like me. (Of course I don’t like the responsiblity that goes along with being a leader so I just try to be an influence, for the most part.)
LuvH8 - I don’t think I’m really grieving. I had one day when it hit me that I was now an orphan, but that’s about it. Mom was a very strong Christian, so I know she’s enjoying herself in heaven now. She suffered a severe stroke 31 months before she died, and kept having additional ones, so it was harder to see the active, independent & creative Mom I knew and loved, reduced to skin & bones, lying helpless in her bed. I miss her very much, but I had already started missing her months before she died, as she lost her conversational skills.
I was a little more lucky than you Grog. My wife had a cold and for the first time that I can remember, I didn’t catch it. Good luck in escaping yours soon.
Lonewolf Yeah, you are here! When you get busy, please try to comment somewhere so I can tell through your profile you are well enough to post. I worry.
Doc T - I think you are a very useful and special tool.
Rmom
Oh, so you did most of your grieving before the actual death. I understand that, it is terrible to watch someone you love go through that. In that case, I am sorry for your loss, but happy that your mom’s pain is over.
No I didn’t, Lonewolf. Nor do I get flue vaccinations. I find they usually give me the flue. One year my Doctor insisted I get one. After that, never again. I rarely get cold or flue anyway. That was my first sick day in quite some time. Last time I took a half day about 5 years ago - and that was due to the flue shot.
We have had a lot of snow this year. Still have quite a bit on the ground. Now it is just cold but at least the major snowfall amounts appear to be done for a while.
Why no Dry and it’s best for you not to as well, with the roads as they are in your part of the country. It’s best to stay warm and cozy with a good book in front of the fire.
Are you two planning a kidnapping? If so, beware of LIlG. Once she finds someone who likes work, she assigns chores like a true general. You two will be worked so hard you”ll put in for retirement and toddle off to the nearest nursing home to live out your days task free.
Howdy johnnyd. Chores??? Are those something like tasks?? Swear words to me. I guess I’d better flag that statement. LOL
Dry yes stress, that is why I worry. And by the way, 4-wheel drive makes no difference on ice. And be wary of JFri, he texts while flying and is that a Booker’s in his cup holder?
Cleo i have not been sleeping much thats why im so tired and then i didnt eat good today. that does not help pluse i had 2 screaming kids today. one who has been sick for 4 days with fever.
I keep telling you that you are too young to have all this stress Tabby.
See Dry, bunnies weather map totally supports the notion that you stay home. You can spend the weekend talking to JFri as he tries to defend himself from the box of killer bees that I sent him.
You have got that wrong Dry, that is for postal workers and you know about how that has effected them. Besides, I have notified the military about the “Skills” that you and JFri possess. They are sending a team to round you both up. The mission, decorating the countryside of Afghanistan. Enjoy your trip and say hello to your new abode, a cave on the border of Pakistan.
Push button what? If you mean a remote door lock, I just checked into it for a VW and it was over one hundred bucks. Hopefully that isn’t what you mean.
Banish, nonsense, you are on a special mission. Think of it as similar to Lady Bird Johnson’s idea of beautifying America, only in your case it the lovely mountainous region of Afghanistan. I think they referred to it as a cultural exchange mission and also a stimulus package for the American Paint companies. By the way….I did not receive my Christmas present.
Oh sorry JFri. I meant killer B’s. I had sent you a case of Booker’s but now I guess it has been poisoned. Sorry, I spelled that wrong, you shouldn’t have been so suspicious. No matter. It won’t be needed on your next assignment. And, I expect wouldn’t get past customs anyway.
Tabby, I thought the keys to my wife’s car were lost as well and that is how I know how much it would cost to replace hers. I found hers fortunately. Are yours lost for sure, or could they be misplaced as ours were?
Cleo its been missing since the begining of this school round. lol its not showing up if it has not yet. ill just have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.
Cleo, sorry, I am heading home tomorrow, and thus, will be out of touch for a while, and I need to tidy up the house first. I don’t like it, but it has to be done.
I am sure that the people of Afghanistan will be so impressed when they see John Wayne and a black bear armed with brushes, rollers and paint cans. This might even become a movie. I can see the title now “Painted Desert”.
yea that thing is gonna have to waite, i have about $250 to my name. :0( im so in deep water. need a job had a lady offer me a job with dad standing right there next to me, b4 i could answer he says “no i dont want her working, she is up till 12 1 oclock in the morning as it is and dosent have a job. shes up doing hw” so the lady looked at him like he was stupid and looked at me the same way. :0(
Cleo yea i thought about the newer car thing, but i dont even own my own. and they would want me to buy it for them. sigh!
I think that my friend had the keys last that day and its been missing since then. i think its with her, but she swares its not. but she wont look for it!!! im so da ng anoyed!!!!
Your yogurt concoction sounds similar to my wife’s first breakfast of the day (she has two). She toasts a good bread, spreads yogurt over the top and fruit and chopped nuts, followed by a drizzle of honey.
Tabby* I will study and take your test if you write my 8 page essay for Monday, my sermon for Sunday, 750 word review for Tuesday morning, and lecture for Theology class on Tuesday. night. Oh and I have a three hour test on Tuesday as well.*
I had pasta for lunch as well. Great minds, heh, heh, heh!
Her second breakfast about 3 to 4 hours later, is a variety of different cereals, all mixed together, blueberries, bananas and non-fat milk, topped with my homemade granola.
Shika, I just sent some Booker’s your way. It has a way of making tests and essays breeze by. By the time you finish you will have no memory of what you wrote. It takes the stress right out of education and also takes you right out of education. I love mind altering experiences.
All that homework sounds rough. All I have to do for school is… well… nothing for now, I’m on spring break. You can tell it is spring break because there is a foot of snow outside, and it is still coming down.
Dry, I forgot to mention, yes you did comment on my avatar, the last time I used it. I agree, it does kind of fit my devil may care ( but I don’t ) lifestyle.
The plot of next year’s oscar nominee is simple. It is the story of two relentless American Painters and how they mesmorize and immobilize a terrorist cell by numbing their minds with unbelievable color combinations. Jihad red, with an accent of Infidel Blue and a heavy dollop of Army Green.
Yeah, Cleo, spring break is early here. Oh well. It does mean we are half way done with the semester.
And now I am off for the night.
Peace and love all!
Cleo, you got the rain storm right lol
my mom got here to pick up my bro and i had to go tell her hi so to not make her cry and i got soked! i just finished the hw so when its done printing ill go take a shower and warm up, i hope.
so i have so cheeted! i just copied and pasted the questions and ans. and fixed them to where it makes since. and now im printing them out to beable to make note/flash cards out of them. :0D yes that is so simple
TELL ME THE ANSWERS TO THOSE 2 TRIVIA QUESTIONS! I used to know Wilma’s maiden name, but forgot, and I don’t knowthe one about Matt Dillion! I Just know it wasn’t Festus! ROFLMAO!!
back!! and note to self, always use condiotioner (sp) no matter how lazy you want to be or are. use it if you have curly hair i broke one of my 3 hair brushes. the thing keeps poping out
cleo and Dry, NEITHER ONE of you knows SQUAT about Bookers packaging!! It comes in a sealed wooden box with a VERY tight seal on the cork to the bottle. *NO* Bookers was lost in the shipment.
Dry, from “my hero” to “you ruined the **Bookers”???
I thought I would try to throw a scare into you JFri, but the scare went to Dry instead. I shall guard your case carefully during your overseas duties. Since I sent , need not fear my tapping it’s contents.
Oh, cleo! You didn’t hear the news?? Our work permit Visas were turned down so we can’t go! Now we can concentrate on your place!! Isn’t that just GREAT news??
I have an in. Don’t worry JFri. I bribed the proper parties concerned. I got you great accomodations on a tramp steamer. Your trip will be slightly boring, but uneventful. Your entry into the country will be by truck, at night, and you will be housed in barracks in Kabul, where you will await transportation to the mountains. the road is high and dangerous, but I have been informed that your driver has made 9 uneventful crossings. He had one unfortunage accident last year, but he survived with only a broken arm. His passengers were airlifted to their home countries for appropriate disposal. Happy travels and paint up a storm. Desert storm. I shall see you on your return.
Oooohhhh , cleo, what a SHAME! The officials you bribed were caught and beheaded and now they are searching for the infidel who paid them off. A team of crack Afghani guerillas have landed in Port ANgeles and are at this very moment heading for your house! I hear it is REAL NICE living behind Snoqualmie Falls this time of year!!
Cleo Now that you answered the trivia questions, I do remember now! Even Buck! Did LilG win the game, or contest? I once won a Trivial Pursuit team game because I knew the names of the tunnels in the “Great Escape”. (I think I told this story before, a long time ago). My team didn’t believe me, but I said, TRUST ME! I am 100% CORRECT, so they did, and we won!
love the look i get when i am being creative. LOL dad just looked at me like i was stupid. i am cutting out the strips of paper and useing them as flash cards. i am only cutting out the first 50 and ill do the 2nd 50 tomorrow. i want to to go bed.
Grog, And you win a large pizza with all the works and a 6 pack of Yuengling Lager! That’s what we won! That was some game, I love Trivial Pursuit, but those clowns didn’t want to believe me! LOL! The answer was too simple for their analytical minds!
Hi, Dry
Clowns indeed. I would have gotten that one if the last time I’d seen the movie was 25 years ago! There are some things you can’t possibly forget.
LOL You guys. I love taking a break to read your mental gynastics. If this were an event in the Olympics, you guys would win the Gold medal for the most creative story lines, with twists and turns that defy imagination!
Dry I have had had that movie on tape/DVD for at least 15 years, seeing it in about 3 year intervals from my own collection, plus bits and pieces or whole showings from what I’ve seen on TCM or AMC which is almost as frequent as seeing Smokey & the Bandit on TBS.
i am about to call it a night, i cant keep my eyes open its been a long week. so night night to all see you in the morning. maybe who knows lets say afternoon to be safe.
Jfri and Dry stay out of trouble while i am gone and if Carmy drops by tell her i said HI and i love her and the same goes for marg and Joy but tell Joy i miss her also. :0) thanks you two! lol
JFri, I’d have to say things are going much better here than they are in the north-east, but it’s still cooler than what I like. Still I shouldn’t complain.
The problem with those crack Afghani’s was indeed crack. They were so high that they got lost at the ferry terminal and were apprehended in a mini van that had a bumper sticker that said “My Afghan hound is smarter than your Poodle.” That was so obviously untrue that they are now on their way to Walla Walla for debriefing…. Packed yet.
Dry, I know you love that movie. I’ve seen it many times myself, but I don’t think I could name any one favorite. Never-the-less certain movies have certain unforgettable trivia bits and/or lines. Blazing Saddles is a great movie for memorable lines from recent times as is Casablanca.
cleo, that was just the decoy team. The real guerilla team actually landed at Friday Harbor and made their way ashore in stealth kayaks, carrying silenced AK-47’s, RPG’s and a full sniper team carrying Dragunov rifles. Good luck!!
Grog If you have been reading for a while, my catch line is “I’ll see ya’ when I see ‘ya!” Followed by, “Not if I see you first!” From “Stand By Me”. I LOVE THAT MOVIE! Just recently bought it. Another favorite is “The Green MIle”. My one son wanted it for Christmas last year, and we watch it all the time, and it’s a long movie. And I just bought “Murder By Death”, a comedy takeoff on Agatha Christie. Don’t see that on TV anymore.
Dry, Though I like Tom Hanks (I have Family Ties episodes with Hanks as cousin Ned), I have not seen that movie. I have Apollo 13 though. I was never a fan of Peter Sellers, but I loved Mel Brooks. Go figure. May the Schwartz be with you.
Just watched an episode of “Wings” where Roy, Lowell, Joe and Brian go to a South Carolina resort for a weekend of golf! Laughed so hard, (again), my sides hurt!
Dry, there are not many 3 hour (or more) movies I’d watch. Believe it or not I found Gone With the Wind long winded, but I was rivetted by Judgement At Nuremburg, Bridge On the River Kwai & The Longest Day
Grog I haven’t seen that program anywhere in years! That was a hoot! Thanks for reminding me! Were you a fan of “News Radio”? LOVED THAT SHOW! And I just within the past year have discovered “That 70’s Show! I loved Fez!
okay so i am still awake. :0) and :0( lol the :0) is because as soon as i layed down to go to sleep my phone rang and it was walking buddy she wanted someone to ride to the store with her just to chat. so i gladly went, its been to long since we did that. and the :0( is because i should be sleeping i have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.
How old a soul are you?
Tabby took the “How old a soul are you?” quiz and the result is Very Old Soul.
When the winds of change blow, you sense the outcome ahead of others, having seen so much before. Surprises come in smaller forms to you, as in the unexpected experiences of the senses, deepening your appreciation of the physical. You want life to last so you can explor…e your mature understanding of existence. You have become patient with the younger souls, understanding their paths and of the challenges they face. You forgive much, often acting as mentor without pushing your beliefs upon others. You give without great expectations of receiving. Love has become the most valued concept in your universe - this life may be your quest to perfect your ability to express and receive perfect love. Thoughts of dying do not fill you with dread, as you understand death is a part of life, and life is a process of becoming… so death is a graduation, not an end. At rest, you feel at one with the universe and are grateful for your current home, Earth. You have a heartfelt affinity for history - the connections to various periods throughout time are undeniable. Very old souls are adept at recognizing other old souls… mutual respect forms naturally between them
its sent and im stil lost. lol the old soul thing? it was just some quiz i took. or was it the walking buddy thing? it made me want to cry bc she wanted me to go ride and i miss her so much. :0)
I love you too Sweetie!
My day was long and tiring. I took a nap before dinner and had a long chat with the oldest daughter after dinner. I was going to go sleepers, but I decided to catch up on the comments here first. WOW! Was I surprised. My last comment was on page 2 and you all got all yappy and made it to page 7.

Carmy, not too bad, but it’s hard to tell how much we got because it’s blowing and drifting all over.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
A shika(t) flyby–I noticed the “How Dry I am” renditions from last night, and could not help but think of the prayer at the end of this comic.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Dry, should I tell you that it’s 47 and sunny over here? Oops!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good morning Rmom, it is a good thing to be introverted when you have a migraine or other serious headache.
Grog The raspberry wasnt directed towards Bunnyface and Johanan Rakkav they seem to be enjoying their discussion. I plead the fifth on the rest of it.
carmy almost 15 years ago
bmonk, I remember seeing Ruthie’s prayer. She’s sweet!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Bunny do you know that a couple of the websites have two different “One Big Happy’s” running each day?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 I have to agree with you there, LuvH8.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good morning, Dry & Rmom
bmonk almost 15 years ago
As far as being borderline introvert/extravert, or the other Meyer-Briggs (Jungian) personality styles, there is little borderline in my personality when it comes to being introverted or intuitive. The closest I come is thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving is not too extreme–but the other two are quite one-sided.
In that regard, I preferred the imaginary breakfast that was offered here first…
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, I’ve noticed a long time ago that comics.com does not have the same strip posted as gocomics. I also recall someone saying that a particular newspaper has yet a third strip running for One Big Happy
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Hi, LuvH8 & Grog!
carmy almost 15 years ago
I read the current One Big Happy on the WA post comics website, along with Mary Worth, Mutts, Piranha Club, Sherman’s Lagoon, Six Chix and Mother Goose & Grimmy. I’m off to run some errands, BBL.

I’ll have the grits and pan fried trout, fruit and Doc’s coffee please. Thanks cleo!
I have lots of writing today, so I can’t have a heavy breakfast or I’ll go back to sleep. Trout is brain food.

Good Morning Bunnyface!
Grog brought up your name first (points finger). I like you the way you are.
When I looked up my description the other day one of the pages suggested ‘dictator’ first for job types. LOL! I knew it was supposed to be a natural leader, but warn me if I try to take over the world (too much).

Good Morning Everyone
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - That would be interesting to have that test on my siblings & myself. My husband says that we all fight for control in our family, which is pretty much true with the exception of one brother. I’m the baby of the family, and my parents made me their trust’ trustee & estate executor . This means I have to frequently remind my siblings that decisions are up to ME, not them. (I don’t think they still get it.) At first I was nice and shared information, but when they started trying to order me to do this or that, I shut off the flow of information. I will be SO glad to get Mom’s estate settled!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Good Morning, Lonewolf
LuvH8 I would not call it pointing fingers, because I happen to agree with bunnyface. In fact, I am sure that I, too, have expressed my feelings on the subject to Johanan.

Good Morning Lonewolf!

Good Morning Shika & Johnnydoc5 & Everyone
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
I’d be over there now, but my hubby is having a colonoscopy this afternoon, and so I have to be his designated driver.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Wow I take a phone call and had to do major catch up here.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 and Rmom, fortunately, there is no estate to fight over in my family. Not yet, anyhow. Even though it isn’t quite noon yet, I am going to take a nap. I am not registering things properly right now.

Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I’m sorry Rmom I hope it is over soon. It’s hard to deal with all that stuff while you are still grieving.
Probably your family is all dictators like me. (Of course I don’t like the responsiblity that goes along with being a leader so I just try to be an influence, for the most part.)

COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Other issues on my mind, Grog. No biggie.
How are you doing with the cold bug?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
It’s hanging in there, Lonewolf. It’ll be cured in a week to 10 days.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Grog, Did you get an anti-biotic for it?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
LuvH8 - I don’t think I’m really grieving. I had one day when it hit me that I was now an orphan, but that’s about it. Mom was a very strong Christian, so I know she’s enjoying herself in heaven now. She suffered a severe stroke 31 months before she died, and kept having additional ones, so it was harder to see the active, independent & creative Mom I knew and loved, reduced to skin & bones, lying helpless in her bed. I miss her very much, but I had already started missing her months before she died, as she lost her conversational skills.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I was a little more lucky than you Grog. My wife had a cold and for the first time that I can remember, I didn’t catch it. Good luck in escaping yours soon.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Lonewolf Yeah, you are here! When you get busy, please try to comment somewhere so I can tell through your profile you are well enough to post. I worry.
Doc T - I think you are a very useful and special tool.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Rmom Oh, so you did most of your grieving before the actual death. I understand that, it is terrible to watch someone you love go through that. In that case, I am sorry for your loss, but happy that your mom’s pain is over.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
No I didn’t, Lonewolf. Nor do I get flue vaccinations. I find they usually give me the flue. One year my Doctor insisted I get one. After that, never again. I rarely get cold or flue anyway. That was my first sick day in quite some time. Last time I took a half day about 5 years ago - and that was due to the flue shot.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
I hear you Grog. My little sister is the same way about the flu shots. Because I was required to get them in the Army, I have gotten used to them.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
Thank you LuvH8. That is sweet of you. :^)

Oh that sounds like fun! I think I’ve only been to two games but the excitement was great. Probably even better if you have a team.
Do you still have snow? It seems so strange that you all have snow while I have rain or sun and weather in the 50s.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Where are you at LuvH8? You’re describing my current weather picture.
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
We have had a lot of snow this year. Still have quite a bit on the ground. Now it is just cold but at least the major snowfall amounts appear to be done for a while.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog I’m in Oregon, within 5 - 20 miles of Portland (depending what part of Portland)
Lonewolf I hope the snow hasn’t caused you too much trouble, and that you got a chance to enjoy some of it.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LuvH8, is that considered normal weather for your neck of the woods?
COWBOY7 almost 15 years ago
LuvH8, I always enjoy the snow. It doesn’t even bother me to drive in it.
Ooops! Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog, I am a third generation native Oregonian. I don’t need no stinkin umbrella and I don’t walk I waddle. (Yes, its normal sigh)
Lonewolf - I don’t get enough snow to feel comfortable driving in it. I love watching it fall and playing in it with the monkeys though.

Why no Dry and it’s best for you not to as well, with the roads as they are in your part of the country. It’s best to stay warm and cozy with a good book in front of the fire.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry it is funny looking at your avatar above mine. We have bear and bare.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Are you two planning a kidnapping? If so, beware of LIlG. Once she finds someone who likes work, she assigns chores like a true general. You two will be worked so hard you”ll put in for retirement and toddle off to the nearest nursing home to live out your days task free.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago

Oh and Cleo don’t worry, I have 4 wheel drive!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Howdy johnnyd. Chores??? Are those something like tasks?? Swear words to me. I guess I’d better flag that statement. LOL
Dry yes stress, that is why I worry. And by the way, 4-wheel drive makes no difference on ice. And be wary of JFri, he texts while flying and is that a Booker’s in his cup holder?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Cleo i have not been sleeping much thats why im so tired and then i didnt eat good today. that does not help pluse i had 2 screaming kids today. one who has been sick for 4 days with fever.
bmonk almost 15 years ago
Hey, DocT, they noticed your coffee spill in Kentucky-Tennessee region–at least according to this weather map
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I keep telling you that you are too young to have all this stress Tabby.
See Dry, bunnies weather map totally supports the notion that you stay home. You can spend the weekend talking to JFri as he tries to defend himself from the box of killer bees that I sent him.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo Neither snow nor rain nor sleet, etc etc, shall keep this interior decorator from her appointed rounds!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Tabby is in trouble! again! and this time walking buddy had nothing to do with it. she is gonna feel so unloved! lol
dose anybody know how much its gonna cost to get a push boutton replacement thing for the car???
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
You have got that wrong Dry, that is for postal workers and you know about how that has effected them. Besides, I have notified the military about the “Skills” that you and JFri possess. They are sending a team to round you both up. The mission, decorating the countryside of Afghanistan. Enjoy your trip and say hello to your new abode, a cave on the border of Pakistan.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Tabby, do you mean the keyless entry?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Push button what? If you mean a remote door lock, I just checked into it for a VW and it was over one hundred bucks. Hopefully that isn’t what you mean.

PSSSSSSHHHHTTTTTT!Ahhhhhh, a box of DEAD killer bees!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
My hero! He saved me from the bees!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Banish, nonsense, you are on a special mission. Think of it as similar to Lady Bird Johnson’s idea of beautifying America, only in your case it the lovely mountainous region of Afghanistan. I think they referred to it as a cultural exchange mission and also a stimulus package for the American Paint companies. By the way….I did not receive my Christmas present.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Oh sorry JFri. I meant killer B’s. I had sent you a case of Booker’s but now I guess it has been poisoned. Sorry, I spelled that wrong, you shouldn’t have been so suspicious. No matter. It won’t be needed on your next assignment. And, I expect wouldn’t get past customs anyway.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
it is lost. :0(
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I thought the keys to my wife’s car were lost as well and that is how I know how much it would cost to replace hers. I found hers fortunately. Are yours lost for sure, or could they be misplaced as ours were?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Cleo its been missing since the begining of this school round. lol its not showing up if it has not yet. ill just have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I am sure that the people of Afghanistan will be so impressed when they see John Wayne and a black bear armed with brushes, rollers and paint cans. This might even become a movie. I can see the title now “Painted Desert”.

All that homework sounds rough. All I have to do for school is… well… nothing for now, I’m on spring break. You can tell it is spring break because there is a foot of snow outside, and it is still coming down.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry, I forgot to mention, yes you did comment on my avatar, the last time I used it. I agree, it does kind of fit my devil may care ( but I don’t ) lifestyle.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Thanks cleo Now I can write a spirited paper, lol!
“”Bookers”” is more appropriate for education that you think, given its name.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LOL johnny We had our reading week last week. But it is snowing this week, so it must be spring.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago

cleokaya almost 15 years ago

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
See you Shika.
This year the war movie nominated for best picture is “The Hurt Locker”.
Next year’s nominee will be “The Paint Locker”.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
cleo LOL
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
i am now cold and wet and smell funny. :0(
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
The plot of next year’s oscar nominee is simple. It is the story of two relentless American Painters and how they mesmorize and immobilize a terrorist cell by numbing their minds with unbelievable color combinations. Jihad red, with an accent of Infidel Blue and a heavy dollop of Army Green.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
also i love the strip the last 3 days have had me ROFLMBO
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I just got a call from my wife at work. Work must be tough, because she called me to ask two very important questions.
What was Wilma’s maiden name on “The Flintstones” (there is controversy with the answer}.
What was the name of Matt Dillon’s horse on “Gunsmoke”.
If you can answer these questions without using the internet, please seek to get a life. LOL
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Yeah, Cleo, spring break is early here. Oh well. It does mean we are half way done with the semester. And now I am off for the night. Peace and love all!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Good night johnnyd.

cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry, early on Wilma had the maiden name of Pebble, but it then became Slaghoople.
Mentioned in only one episode, Matt’s horse was Buck.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo and Dry, NEITHER ONE of you knows SQUAT about Bookers packaging!! It comes in a sealed wooden box with a VERY tight seal on the cork to the bottle. *NO* Bookers was lost in the shipment. Dry, from “my hero” to “you ruined the **Bookers”???
:-p :-p :-p :-p :-p :-p :-p :-ptabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Jfir lol
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I thought I would try to throw a scare into you JFri, but the scare went to Dry instead. I shall guard your case carefully during your overseas duties. Since I sent , need not fear my tapping it’s contents.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
i hate this game, so why do i play it???
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Oh, cleo! You didn’t hear the news?? Our work permit Visas were turned down so we can’t go! Now we can concentrate on your place!! Isn’t that just GREAT news??
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
If the game you are playing is “life”, just wait, it gets even more difficult. If not, I do not know.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
i am playing solitaire
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I shall see you on your return.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
And now I must cook up a storm. adios.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Oooohhhh , cleo, what a SHAME! The officials you bribed were caught and beheaded and now they are searching for the infidel who paid them off. A team of crack Afghani guerillas have landed in Port ANgeles and are at this very moment heading for your house! I hear it is REAL NICE living behind Snoqualmie Falls this time of year!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo, me and JFri on an adventure trip? No need to worry, we will have a blast!
Sorry JFri I will put you back up to hero status! LOL!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo Now that you answered the trivia questions, I do remember now! Even Buck! Did LilG win the game, or contest? I once won a Trivial Pursuit team game because I knew the names of the tunnels in the “Great Escape”. (I think I told this story before, a long time ago). My team didn’t believe me, but I said, TRUST ME! I am 100% CORRECT, so they did, and we won!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Tom, Dick and Harry. I just saw the movie last weekend.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
love the look i get when i am being creative. LOL dad just looked at me like i was stupid. i am cutting out the strips of paper and useing them as flash cards. i am only cutting out the first 50 and ill do the 2nd 50 tomorrow. i want to to go bed.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog, And you win a large pizza with all the works and a 6 pack of Yuengling Lager! That’s what we won! That was some game, I love Trivial Pursuit, but those clowns didn’t want to believe me! LOL! The answer was too simple for their analytical minds!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi, Dry Clowns indeed. I would have gotten that one if the last time I’d seen the movie was 25 years ago! There are some things you can’t possibly forget.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I’m sure they thought the tunnels were named #1,2 & 3!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog, YES THEY DID! And they kept arguing with me! I said, “do you know how many times I have seen this movie?”
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I got an extension on my paper **Tabby!
Whoo-hoo!
And now we return to our regular programing: “The Comic-Tragic Tale of the Booker Artists”

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LOL You guys. I love taking a break to read your mental gynastics. If this were an event in the Olympics, you guys would win the Gold medal for the most creative story lines, with twists and turns that defy imagination!

Dry I have had had that movie on tape/DVD for at least 15 years, seeing it in about 3 year intervals from my own collection, plus bits and pieces or whole showings from what I’ve seen on TCM or AMC which is almost as frequent as seeing Smokey & the Bandit on TBS.

HI Dry
HI Grog!
Loved the video Tabby Tina sure can move! She’s in her 60’s now, isn’t she? Boy, I hope I can still move like that when I’m her age.

Howdy, Grog!!! How’s every little thang down Texas way?
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
i am about to call it a night, i cant keep my eyes open its been a long week. so night night to all see you in the morning. maybe who knows lets say afternoon to be safe.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog Yes I AM SERIOUS! LOL! That was my team mates answer!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri, I’d have to say things are going much better here than they are in the north-east, but it’s still cooler than what I like. Still I shouldn’t complain.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
OF COURSE WE DO, DON’T WE JFRI?
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
YEAH SHIKA! WE KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT GIRL! (Books, yeah right! Dry says, With a little wink in her eye!)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
The problem with those crack Afghani’s was indeed crack. They were so high that they got lost at the ferry terminal and were apprehended in a mini van that had a bumper sticker that said “My Afghan hound is smarter than your Poodle.” That was so obviously untrue that they are now on their way to Walla Walla for debriefing…. Packed yet.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Grog, if your weather is anything like ours……just wait 5 minutes…….it will change!!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, I know you love that movie. I’ve seen it many times myself, but I don’t think I could name any one favorite. Never-the-less certain movies have certain unforgettable trivia bits and/or lines. Blazing Saddles is a great movie for memorable lines from recent times as is Casablanca.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, that was just the decoy team. The real guerilla team actually landed at Friday Harbor and made their way ashore in stealth kayaks, carrying silenced AK-47’s, RPG’s and a full sniper team carrying Dragunov rifles. Good luck!!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi cleo. You done with supper already? Or have I been online longer than I thought I’ve been?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri, how is it in your neck of the woods. Forgive me but I forget where your neck of the woods is.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog If you have been reading for a while, my catch line is “I’ll see ya’ when I see ‘ya!” Followed by, “Not if I see you first!” From “Stand By Me”. I LOVE THAT MOVIE! Just recently bought it. Another favorite is “The Green MIle”. My one son wanted it for Christmas last year, and we watch it all the time, and it’s a long movie. And I just bought “Murder By Death”, a comedy takeoff on Agatha Christie. Don’t see that on TV anymore.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri and Dry secret operatives! I feel like “Jane Bond!”
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, Though I like Tom Hanks (I have Family Ties episodes with Hanks as cousin Ned), I have not seen that movie. I have Apollo 13 though. I was never a fan of Peter Sellers, but I loved Mel Brooks. Go figure. May the Schwartz be with you.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE “THE GREEN MILE!” GREAT MOVIE!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Just watched an episode of “Wings” where Roy, Lowell, Joe and Brian go to a South Carolina resort for a weekend of golf! Laughed so hard, (again), my sides hurt!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, there are not many 3 hour (or more) movies I’d watch. Believe it or not I found Gone With the Wind long winded, but I was rivetted by Judgement At Nuremburg, Bridge On the River Kwai & The Longest Day
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Nightcourt often did that to me Dry, though I also did like Wings. But I’m working on building my Nightcourt collection.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog I haven’t seen that program anywhere in years! That was a hoot! Thanks for reminding me! Were you a fan of “News Radio”? LOVED THAT SHOW! And I just within the past year have discovered “That 70’s Show! I loved Fez!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago

tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
