Well, I am not famous in the slightest. So, I shall speak up for all those nobodies out here who completely agree! I love Bloom County! I have for several decades.
The monogrammed stationary is hers, too, and I suspect the note to BB from Nelle Harper Lee is genuine. BB is sharing a precious memento with us while paying tribute to the recently deceased beloved author or “dotty old lady.” R.I.P.Opus does not go alone, and I don’t refer to just Bill. Peace….
I knew that this strip was coming as soon as I heard Harper Lee’s death announcement on the news. BB loved Harper more than any other woman except maybe his own wife and mother. And as this letter reveals, Harper loved BB back. Beautiful!

Something about the letter makes me think of Monty Python.

BTW, I’m guessing that letter is something she wrote to Mr. Breathed.

Harper Lee wrote him a fan letter that he promised not to release until she died.

Thank you, Ms. Lee, for being a force for bringing Bloom County back. Wish you had stopped with ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’.

Bill doesn’t read…he just absorbs while he sleeps. That can be just as comforting.

Well written, Harper Lee, well written…She definitely saved Bloom County with that letter. It just would not be the same without our precious penguin.
