@jbmlawI’ve never met a Mormon who wasn’t unctuous, smarmy, obnoxious and repellent. Any Methodist I’ve met has been so bland and boring I barely notice them. Something about believing in childish, Stone-Age fairy tales makes a person impossible to take seriously.
The Constitution and our traditions require us to respect the right of others to their beliefs. It does not require us to respect the beliefs themselves — thank God.
Re: tolerance. Yes, we need to be more tolerant. That also means that I need to be more tolerant. I’ll try. But let’s not forget that the religions of most people here are ultimately based on the faith that gave us Deuteronomy 13:6-11 so i’t’s not surprising intolerance is so deeply ingrained in us.
As a Wiccan I am constantly amazed at how incredibly ignorant of some christians are of their religion and beliefs..
It is ironic that a Pagan can know more about a religion then the people that are supposedly its adherents. That in all honesty is not a bad one. Just not for me.
Also I grew near hill cumorah in Palmyra, NY. my wife ex husband is a morman. As is an old business partner. Having gone to the sunday ‘service’ I can only say YAWN
But each to their own.
I prefer my own religion as it speaks more clearly to me than any other.

Thank you very much for all of that, including the links! I forgot where we left off before the Sunday strips started.

I am a Methodist. I never met a Mormon I did not like. Nonbelievers, on the other hand, are often insufferable prigs.

@Omnius. This is one I agree with you on. As for Portnoy, he hasn’t a Complaint.

That’s why I’m into Buddhism; we don’t get involved with those debates if we can help it.
