Oliver can’t get the message directly, so Dad will have to resort to more forceful methods. Sorry, Oliver; I’m with Dad.

Age is but a number. A really, really big number.

I remember when a Frank Sinatra movie was colorized, and they made his eyes brown! (For those who don’t know, Sinatra was also known as “Ol’ Blue Eyes”.)

Thankfully, colorizing has been relegated to the dustbin of bad ideas.

When I was a kid and did something bad my dad would tell me to go to my room and take off my belt and wait for him. Whipping me with my own belt was adding insult to the injury of getting a whipping. My sister once told me that while I was in there sweating bullets dad and mom were at the kitchen table drinking coffee and laughing at me.

Ah, the good ol’ days of widely accepted child abuse . . . maybe things today aren’t so bad after all.

Some people would colorize “Young Frankenstein”. It was done in black and white on purpose to honor the original Frankenstein movies.

This here whipping thing is an interesting concept. After a few dances with Dad with a switch I’d had to cut myself, I began to see the error of my ways (or, at least, began to see things Dad’s way). As I grew older, the value of self-examination proved itself in not only affording me the increased ability to assimilate into society but in terms of self-actualization and a subsequent profitable and happy career. So, “spare the rod and spoil the child” has a tiny place in my heart. Maybe “timeouts” do work, but not nearly so quickly as a well placed swat. I hit my kids but only once per transgression, and only on the butt – never the knuckles on the noggin that was my dad’s “quick fix” specialty..
