I don’t remember when it came out, but the IBM PC jr was out around this time… died in ’86 because, why would I pay a huge premium to have half the power of a regular PC? (Maybe not HALF, but it was a step down from an actual PC, nevermind the Mac) :-)
I don’t know if it is still around but at one time Goodwill Industries of Austin, of all people, had a “computer museum” next door to their computer and computer parts store. You want to talk about a walk down memory lane. It really felt a little weird looking at all of these now defunct computer brands and models.

I recall several computer companies that sprang up, made it pretty big, then evaporated. DEC comes to mind.

I wonder whether Breathed watched the movie “Silent Running”? This Banana computer looks a lot like the little robots in that film.

Atari must’ve been their business model…build them & dump them in the desert!

I don’t think Oliver is referring to your fictional plot device “Evil Twin,” Banana Jr. Sales may have been a bit less than optimal….
