This is what has happened to health care and was accelerated under Obamacare. Big insurance companies getting subsidies from the Federal government and special protection from spending that money on patients. They then use that power to consolidate and red tape and prices go up and patient service goes down. The same thing has happened to Hospitals as they consolidate smaller hospitals into giant monopolistic entities. The doctors then get bought out by the hospitals and insurance companies and no longer serve the patient directly. The small independent medical practice is driven out of business. Patients suffer lower quality care at higher cost with less selection. Care that is not individualized, but driven by service of the “population” and designed for maximum revenue to the system. The government sets the rules, holds the purse strings and devastates once great health care system.
