TV: A 15-year-old boy in Washington state suffered burns when he set himself on fire trying to re-enact a stunt from the MTV show "Jackass". And believe it or not, he wasn't white.
I’m with piksea.
Just now I added a comment to June 24th about how people tend to preach to the choir, and picking a single anecdote as evidence is very satisfying (but doesn’t really convince anyone else). I agree with the comment (yesterday?) that everyone feels their own pain/insults/etc more, so everyone feels like they’re the one getting unfair treatment. We all know that any two people on a crowded sidewalk or highway can feel that way regardless of race, sex, etc.
Aaron McGruder is great at making people look at the truth. Flogging an issue to the point of overkill or ridiculousness is a way to make just about any meaningful point come across and sink in.
