From what I’ve seen, more appropriate to have that be atheletes and team owners around a fan. Just spent a week in the hospital, 4 days in ICU, and the bill is nowhere near what is being paid to one wide received in the NFL.
Folks…as the wife of a doctor, I find this cartoon a sad reprise of an old stereotype. Do you know who is getting rich from sick people these days? The insurance companies. My husband quit his private practice because he was getting less money and more bills. Check out the real world, private doctors are not making it these days, hospitals are struggling….but the insurance companies are doing very well.
What we have here in the U. S. is not “Health Care Insurance” Nor are the four branches of government in the business of keeping you alive, (I’ll clear the four branches later) What the Politicians are in the business for is to get as much In “Donations, Campaign Contributions, Loans and/or Bribes” just take your pick, But Keep in mind that the A. M. A., The N. R. A., Big Pharma, Unions, and the ultra rich, (You know their names so I’ll refrain listing names in here) are considered Big “Investors” in our system of democracy, (Yeah right!) Face it, There are revolving door in most offices and agencies that sell and deliver our future and possibly that of our children, And that goes for most politicians, There are a few I have to admit, That will (Hopefully) remain honest and fair to their oaths of office, Unfortunately all new arrivals to the ranks are exposed to the inner works of the dark politics, And sad to say I see that a great majority fall to the wayside once the “Fourth Branch Of Government” gets a hold of them, I sense that by now you have guessed who the fourth branch is, I’ll come back to that, The Dark politics has developed a sinister and very focused way to ensnare and recruit as many as possible of the newest arrivals to the sacred halls of Washington D. C. for them the earlier the better before the more connected counterparts get the pick of the crop, We need to find a way to remove the temptation to get rich from “Serving” us Voters/Taxpayers it has become so darn expensive, Just look a the deficit spending we are being saddled as we take each and every breath of air, Please vote, and make sure your choices are the ones you expected, if not give them hell kick them put and choose again, and again, we must stop being so complacent and demand a better government since you and I are paying big bucks for it, Peace to all of you

That’s what they do while you’re still in the hospital. They charge you everything.

Many years ago, I saw a comic strip that could be considered the “ancestor” of this one: “There. I think we got it all. Close the wallet, doctor.”

Your empty wallet makes for a healthy doctor!

Cleaned his wallet? I thought they did that when they gave him the bill.

This is more or less the same everywhere in the world.

@Troglodyte: This is more or less the same everywhere in the world.
No it’s not. In all developed countries, except the U.S., they have health care systems that do not cost you almost everything you have.

That’s why I don’t take it with me to the hospital.
