Elvis: You know, Burt, there's a whole bunch of footage from before you worked here that would be terrific to see through your video editing skills! Is anyone listening to me- Puck: Shhhh! TV: And now..."Our IX Lives-" Burt: Elvis, I'll edit whatever as long as I can watch the "Our IX Lives" Christmas special. I've waited all year for this. "You're invited to the wedding of Angora Taggart & That Guy Brad" Bandit: Hey, bit brother! Kibble for your thoughts? Brad: Not much, Bandit. Gonna be a real cold Christmas is all. Puck: Why is Angora marrying Brad?! Robber Mouse: Because Kit just took off when Snowball got sick! What? She's a mind reader?!
Hello everyone!
From now until Christmas there will be a new strip every day! Why is Angora marrying that guy Brad? Wait, Kit has a brother? And why is it snowing in California? (Knowing ‘soap opera magic,’ I don’t expect that last one to be solved… Anything can happen!)
Twelve days of ‘Our IX Lives’! Snuck in before Christmas, rather than after like the ACTUAL twelve days of Christmas—just to drive Elvis extra crazy.
Some of you will already be getting ‘Breaking Cat News’ in your local paper, starting at the end of March! I’m not able to say which papers yet, but I can say that many papers through the country have already added us to their funny pages! It is exciting!
We are still pitching the strip to newspapers, and your letters have been helping, thank you! Some folks have been requesting, “put it in this paper! Or that paper!” We would love it to be in every paper—but the newspapers make that decision, not the syndicate. The syndicate peddles its strips and hopes newspapers bite. (We are …the bait? I’m not sure I like this metaphor, although I think cats everywhere would LOVE IT and SWAT). The good news on that is, if you want ‘Breaking Cat News’ in your local paper, let them know about the comic and why you like it! They might not listen to the syndicate pitching a strip they’ve never heard of, and they might not listen to a cartoonist hoping to get into the funny pages—but they will listen to their readers, if enough readers write in! Or maybe if one reader makes a really compelling case… I’d LOVE to just put the strip into any paper you request—but the paper makes that decision. The power lies with their readers!
As for right now… We are back ‘on the air’ for twelve days for the Christmas special! Hooray! I hope you will tune in! Have a great day!
