He forgot his keys and locked the door behind him.
We were leaving Auburn one Friday afternoon back around 1975, passing the girl’s dorms.
A girl and her boyfriend were standing outside a car, holding things obviously intended for the weekend trip home, looking frustrated.
Howard slowed his ’69 LeSabre. I took the clothes off a metal wire coat hanger and passed it out to the group. One bent it into the shape of a latch grabber and passed it to the one closest.
He pushed it between the door and the car, around the latch, pulled up, unlocked the door, passed the wire back to the first. He bent it back into the shape of a coat hanger and returned it to me.
Howard had never stopped but we had still not passed them.

We all went our separate ways.
