It’s funny that it doesn’t look the same going out then it did going in, except corn.

Look up Alexis St. Martin, a Canadian who (thanks to an incompletely healed gunshot wound) had a hole in his side that went into his stomach. Much of what we know about digestion was learned by watching (and sticking things into) that hole.
