My English cocker spaniel used to do this. I finally realized that, were I dependent upon someone else for bladder control, I’d be pretty insistent, too. :-/
Reminded me of a Rottweiler we had. I worked night shift and as I slept during the day, I would get the feeling I was being stared at and upon opening my eyes, there he would be, head rested on the pillow, gazing at me intently. Most of the time he wanted outside.
