I don’t know about these people. They put the dog outside all night? My dogs have always been inside dogs. I have friends with farm dogs that stay outside but they have barns for shelter and they’re mostly outside dogs. Buckles is an inside dog who should get to stay inside at night.
That’s clever of Buckles to tie Paul’s shoelaces together like that. After all, it’s like what they said in the live-action Garfield film, you never put the dog out at night. However, it does depend on the type of dog.
I sleep soundly these days. I woke up this morning, stretched, and put my foot to the right side of the bed and hit something wet. I hoped it meant my dog had been licking her feet or something, since she sleeps under the covers. Still groggy, I looked for my dog, who was sleeping soundly against my left side, where she rarely sleeps. I put my legs back to the left and tried to go back to sleep. I finally got up, checked under the covers, and she had thrown up a bit, mostly water. I never heard anything. I am switching her food, slowly, and she is like a garbage disposal anyway. I had to go to the hospital this morning for routine blood tests and generally I take her, but I left her home for some extra rest. She was missed.
I had just remarked in one of the comics that my dog has not horked in the 6 years I have had her. That ship has sailed, even though it added up to able 5-6 pieces of kibble. I had to strip the entire bed, patted myself on the back again for buying waterproof mattress pads (extras!) and have been doing the laundry. Tomorrow my cleaning lady would have done the bedding, so this is extra work my back could have happily avoided.
Also, last night she did seem to eat a little slower, and then I found some soggy pieces of kibble half under her bowl. I assumed it was from her water bowl, but when I picked up her dish, she didn’t eat the kibble. Now I am assuming she had thrown up a little last night, too, and I didn’t realize it. I was nearby and didn’t hear anything.
Before covid came, for 20 years I did all home cooking for the 2 beagles I used to have and for this one when I adopted her. My dogs are always lean and healthy looking, like a properly fed human will look. Kibble makes them look softer. With covid, I was worried I would not aways be able to get the proper fresh ingredients for her food so I switched to a high quality dog food. Maybe it’s time to switch back.
Once she peed by my feet, I think that was in her sleep. She moved away from that, too. Otherwise, she has slept soundly, usually under the covers, without asking to go out after we go to bed. She just turned 12, so I know she will need to get up at night eventually. I hope she asks to go out! She is very polite and rarely will ask to go out except at 5:15p and 7p. First thing in the morning is a given, with a long walk, and the rest of the time I have to remember to get her out.

I hope he doesn’t mean " outside" outside and just means outside the bedroom. Sleeping together is natural for pack animals.

Are we putting dogs outside at night? Is that a thing now? I thought that dogs were indoors except on leashes at this point?

Inevitable. No such word as enevitable

Puts their dog outside for the night? Wow, the way they treat Buckles they shouldn’t have a dog.
