My brother didn’t forgive something I had done in my youth for 43 years. Often I think, how many beautiful things we could have done during this long time!!! Now we are old people and he still will not forgive!

In this case things may be a bit better the longer you stay away. If she worries enough or misses you enough it might soften your punishment or she may hold that against you too. “Two wrongs don’t make a right !”

Going home should be “as easy as falling off a log”, but for Calvin it ‘wood’ be hard. He’d be ‘up the creek without a paddle’. Calvin ‘can’t see the forest for the trees’, so he has a ‘stream’ of excuses.

tamron is right on! Disclaimer: The following is for anyone who is interested. You may accept, reject or ignore it, as you will. “Take heed to yourselves: If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.” Luke 18:3 That is for reconciliation! There’s another forgiveness that’s required for any offence, It relates to revenge. “…Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 However, that doesn’t negate justice.

That’s a big part of it, Yukoner. Sadly, when no one else forgives you, and you have forgiven yourself, its a very tough row to hoe.

Given the fact that Hobbes “helped” Calvin push the car out of the garage and into the driveway, causing it to then roll downhill into a ditch, he isn’t quite so innocent in this latest escapade of theirs!

Yes and no. A good character often takes on an existence of its own. Many authors will try to get the character to behave and do as the author wants, but can’t–the character simply would not do it. Same here: Calvin may have imagined Hobbes, but now he is as he is.

I hate to say it but I’m human (No smart alec remarks). I would love to be forgiven but in the Prayer it says “as we forgive the tress passes of others”. There is the hard part, in order to be forgiven, I must forgive. Lord, give me strength. Let me be able to forgive. I’m not that strong.

Go home Calvin. You are still her boy. The car is a material object, covered by insurance no doubt, and is replaceable. You on the other hand aren’t. You will be punished, but it will feel better than running away. Plus aren’t you getting hungry, and night will fall. I don’t see your shelter…..
