Hi Susan I asked GoComics why Calvin and Hobbes has no Zoom function for the Sunday strips, and they said that it’s because the strips are low resolution. They are in the process of getting higher resolution for more strips, so there’s some hope that we may get the Zoom function in the future. In the meantime, if you are using Internet Explorer, it has a built-in zoom function that makes it possible to read the words more easily, even though they will look a bit fuzzy. For example, in Internet Explorer 7, click on “Page” at the upper right, then “Zoom”, and then a percentage, like 150% or 200%. To restore it to normal size later, do the same thing and click on 100%. Another way to zoom in Internet Explorer is to hold down the CTRL key while you repeatedly press the “+” key. It zooms a little bit each time you press it. To reverse this and “unzoom” back to normal size, hold down the CTRL key while you repeatedly press the “-” key (the “minus” key). Down at the lower right corner of your screen, it shows the current zoom percentage. So when you use the CTRL and “-” keys to return to normal size, watch that number and keep pressing the “-” key until you see 100%. Another way to “unzoom” and return to normal size is to hold down the CTRL key and press the “0” key (Zero key) once. Using the CTRL key with “+”, “-”, or “0” can also work in some other Web browsers, like Mozilla Firefox and Opera. This Zoom feature is very useful because you can zoom any Web page where you have trouble reading the small words – not just on GoComics.

hahaha! These comics have always made me laugh! not to brag, but I’ve collected them all! (all the books)

Why are you posting that on every comic strip? It’s getting tiring.

@APersonOfInterestDon’t you think it’s kind of useless to be posting this type of stuff on a website with a main audience of people who appreciate the comic strip as an art form? Don’t you think it would be more useful to go to ComicsSuck.com? Please go there so we don’t have to hear your preaching. If it isn’t spam, it’s still unneeded.

I find your thoughtful statement rather ironic. Maus is meant to be serious art, as it’s a separate genre (graphic novel) . And, while Calvin & Hobbs is a very superior comic, it’s still a comic meant to be funny and not taken too seriously…that’s why it’s called a comic! I suppose if you want to be taken seriously with comic art, you become another Roy Lichtenstein, right? Not quibbling…just sayin’.

This kid needs some serious help. What an evil little face he has in the first panel. Of course, with a stuffed tiger as his best friend, it’s obviously Calvin has mental issues and no social abilities.

Im guessing he might have been testing out those new pair of Converse, or possibly Red ball Jets shoes he aquired from his mom and dad the week prior. My guess.

Sometimes I have selected “General Inquiry” and sometimes “Technical Support,” depending on the topic. I think I selected "Technical Support " for the recent question about the zoom function, and I got an answer within a day or two. I’ve been avoiding selecting “Site Feedback and Suggestions,” guessing that those might just go into a pile of ideas for the future and not result in a reply from GoComics.
