Happy children are dirty, noisy, moving gifts of God.

Try being efficiently hygienic.

Every once in awhile, I allow a full day of staying home, no bathing or grooming. It feels wonderful, a small vacation day.

“I’d rather be efficient than hygienic.”Once he discovers girls, he’ll find a way to be both.

Why go to school? Calvin doesn’t learn anything.

I like Calvin’s thinking, but there are side effects of not doing them. :(

@JP Steve: Congratulations. Hope you really enjoy your retirement. Take some time to relax and read the comics occasionally. Oh, wait………..

Oh for heaven’s sakes. Every day I read this strip and then see people MORALIZING on the behavior of a six-year old. Wow, you are more mature than a badly-behaved first-grader. Congratulations.

Honestly, if you read C&H and all you see is a bratty kid who needs a lecture, the strip is wasted on you.

…Until your mom yells @ you. I’d like to see how far you get in life with bad hygiene. Unless you’re homeless or poor, you have no excuse.

@MarciKiser: It’s the stress and strain of dealing with Calvin’s antics and trying to think of things to say about him hour after hour, day after day, month after month, year after year….. And then when the series finally ends, the reruns start all over again! Like Calvin’s parents, we are all beginning to flip out.(Just kidding.)

There was a Zits strip where his mom used the response “Why should I keep feeding you, you’ll just get hungry again” to “why should I clean my room, it’ll just get dirty again”. I believe the final panel was Jeremy cleaning his room, saying (or thinking) that he’d be able to come up with a comeback to that if he weren’t so hungry.

If I had £1 for every time I read or heard a kid say that….
