A rather painful parallel to leaving a city or state. When “anywhere but here” is the goal, where does one go?

Where else is there to go? Under the blanket and hold your breath.

Do I foresee a trip to Mars in the very near future?

Hobbes asks a simple question, Calvin is embarrassed to realize he doesn’t have an answer, and then he angrily insults Hobbes for it? Who’s the “load” here?

A sign I saw in Germany 28 years ago: “Wir müssen die Erde geschützen. Es ist unser einziges Heim.” (“We have to protect the Earth. It’s our only home.”)

OK. That is the perfect face on Calvin in panel 3. Made me laugh.

“Space,” it says, “is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space.”

It’s kinda hard to get to where you want to go until you figure out where that is.
