Mom: It's breakfast time, little flower! Saleswoman: Something to drink before you order? Mom: No, thank you! Too much bother! We had some water at home! Saleswoman: Maybe a salad to start? Mom: Oh, no! That's too many trips to the kitchen for you! Saleswoman: The chef made a wonderful soup. Mom: Save it for the other guests. I want to make sure everyone gets a taste! Saleswoman: Stir fry? Mom: Too much chopping! Saleswoman: Pasta? Mom: Too many pans! Saleswoman: Fish? Mom: I don't want the chef going to all that trouble...and you shouldn't be working at all on this special day! Here! Sit down and show us pictures of your grandchildren! Cathy: My mom...a day out, yes. A day off, never. Mom: I'm having the time of my life!!
What I like about this strip is that Cathy’s mother gets to do exactly what SHE wants, not what other people want her to want. I think she’s a very sweet person. And she’s enjoying herself - she says so - see the last panel.
