Sometimes owning something sexy makes all the difference for you, even if you can’t bring yourself to wear it infront of other people. I had a bikini like that in highschool. I was too modest to wear it out, but I knew I had it. And I felt SO daring. It’s like another version of the confidence tactic of picturing people in their underwear.

That’s where most of the suits look best – hanging on something and an arm will do.

Seems to me like picturing others in their underwear is a lot more economical than buying swimsuits and then not wearing them. Especially if the ego boost is basically the same.
I personally would rather spend my time and resources trying to be a person people will want to know, not one they’ll want to ogle.
