Good Morning: People who were brought up during the depression had a tendency to be savers. A little cardboard tube here a used piece of aluminum foil there, nothing was wasted. If it could be used again, it was saved.

You know, Cathy’s mother does explain a lot about why Cathy is like she is. The only thing MY mother used a ‘perfectly good paper tube’ for was tooting it like a kid or bopping my brother and I over the head in affection, then giving it to us to toot.

I agree with madampresident. My parents grew up during the depression, and my mother has loads of things that my sister always makes fun of her about and threatens to throw out. I try to understand and let her do what she wants. I have some of her habits, but have tried to buy more quality things that last longer so that I can recycle the junk like paper towel tubes. Or I give the tubes to a daycare who uses them for art projects.
