Cathy: You are sweet, loving, kind, strong, gracious, patient and wise. You've taught me, healed me, protected me, guided me and inspired me. You've given me hope, faith and confidence. You've devoted every moment of your life, every beat of your heart, every speck of your energy to making sure I'm happy, healthy and safe. You're incredible, Mom. When you look inside yourself, there's one thing you must always know! Mom: I didn't do enough! Cathy: Oh, Mom... Dad: The mother of all overachiever genes. To My Beloved Mother.
Happy Mothers’ Day to all the mothers here in the Cathy Clan. The strip actually brought a little tear to my eye.
A few anxious moments yesterday after we spent the afternoon sandbagging the neighbour’s ‘lake house’ to protect it from any high waves in the next while. In the middle of the afternoon the wind switched from the north to the south in about 2 minutes . We spent the next few hours watching the ice floes slowly approaching our shore. We relaxed a little since the ice that reached us was only about an inch thick so was breaking up and melting fairly quickly. Although the lake level is now slightly above the top of our retaining wall it is not high enough to start to cover the lawn. All we are worried about now is a strong wind from the south – then the waves will probably reach 20 to 30 feet up the lawn. Everything is secure by the shore now so not expecting any damage – other than maybe losing another foot or so of lawn at the top of the beach which is not protected by the wall. Compared to other areas, we are getting off easy – for which we are all thankful. On the good news side, the level of the lake seems to have dropped a tiny bit since yesterday – and no rain is forecast for the next couple of days.
I hope everyone here had a much more relaxing weekend.
