You should be able to spend the money you earned yourself, on yourself. Pay the bills first, then anything goes! My DH is a miser. He’s saved every penny he can. He has a lovely nest egg at almost 80 years old. Guess where it will eventually end up? Trickled away for his elderly care when the time comes, when he needs it. Or my care.

To throw out some sayings… Pot meet kettle. Also, Cathy and Irving are two peas in a pod. And “it takes one to know one”

As someone with a 2-year-old Samsung phone with no plans on getting another one anytime soon, I agree with Cathy in that if your current one serves all your needs reliably, then why spend the money just to get the “newest, latest, greatest” if you don’t have to?

But as someone who sat here and rolled her eyes at Cathy when she recently spent some-where around $600.00 or so on TWO pairs of new boots that she absolutely didn’t need, I don’t think she’s got any room to lecture Irving whatsoever when it comes to his spending habits when she so obviously has ZERO self-control over her own! :-/

I bought my first smartphone, and iPhone 6SE, in April 2016, and I see no reason to get a new one. Of course, I mainly use my phone for making and receiving phone calls. I guess that makes me a bit old fashioned.
