I’m LC (low-contact) with my mother; I talk to her probably every other month, and that’s about all I can handle. If she comes to visit for a week, it will take me a month to recover from the trauma. Sure, “all mothers are difficult”…but you don’t know mine.
Even conversation fragments are to be treasured. My mom and I were different people in many ways, but we still tried to have a good relationship. She passed 2 years ago, after many years of struggling with dementia, and I miss her so much. She loved talking and I wish I could hear her voice again.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday! Have a great day, all!
I have met a few moms that I am glad were not mine. I was fortunate that both my mom and my mother-in-law were easy to get along with. Unfortunately I was just really getting to know my mother (funny how you have to get beyond your teenage years before you know you parents as humans) before she died at 63. Fortunately my father lived long enough (95) that we did become friends. And yes, I still miss being able to talk to both of them.

I wish I could talk to my mom, alas! She died in 1997.
