going by the backstory, this is the ideal opportunity for the whole of Mona’s rather undeveloped family to arrive in America, thus reminding Mona of why she travelled 6,000 miles to get away from them in the first place… (does Air France still allow smoking on its planes? The last I heard was a rather bolshie snarl that whatever the Americans may think about it, the inside of a French airliner is still French territory and subject to French law, and merde alors, we say people have a right to smoke!)
Ah… I’m sure Jen can flesh out Mona’s rather formidable mother and the other four Montrois brothers - and any sisters-in-law and nephews and nieces? - in time for the nuptials.
A good opportunity for the Artist uncle to return from beyond the grave to say “bonjour”, I think!
I love this.
