Men are rarely pressured here to become fathers, and likewise rarely even asked if they would want to. Cultural bias assumes that all women somehow have to justify their own existence through reproduction. That something is “wrong” with them if they don’t want and/or have children.
Translation: The birth control failed and there’s nothing we can do about it so we have to make happy faces. We can get by with one more. It’s all gonna be fine. Fine, I tell ya!
What an incredibly stupid and selfish reason to have a child (feeling a bun in oven) – especially one above replacement value and thus detrimental to the planet. Argh!
