I’m betting it’s a reference to actor Al Waxman (1935-2001). Al starred on the Canadian sitcom King of Kensington and then was on Cagney and Lacey in the ’80’s. The punchline might have been clearer to some had he written dent Al records. Yeah, it’s a bit of an obscure reference to most (especially the younger folk and non-Canadians) but a lot of cartoonists are going that way these days it seems.
