Assuming that is the joke – a very weak attempt at a play on words involving car dents and dentistry – this is another half-baked idea for a cartoon that should never have been allowed to see the light of day. Another case of “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
I’m betting it’s a reference to actor Al Waxman (1935-2001). Al starred on the Canadian sitcom King of Kensington and then was on Cagney and Lacey in the ’80’s. The punchline might have been clearer to some had he written dent Al records. Yeah, it’s a bit of an obscure reference to most (especially the younger folk and non-Canadians) but a lot of cartoonists are going that way these days it seems.
