When I was a kid in the 70s, the “evil-doers” would “stick horns”. They would get into unlocked cars in peoples’ driveways and wedge a stick in the steering wheel so the horn would be stuck blaring. THis was before car alarms, so a loud constant horn sound was NOT a typical thing. The kids would usually lock the car door when they left, just to create a little more havoc for the car owner. When I was about 17 or 18, my brother and I put our 1969 Olds Delta 88 out at the end of the driveway, then we hid in the back seat under a blanket, waiting for unsuspecting horn-stickers. It only took about ten minutes for two teens to open the door and go to work on the steering wheel. We waited about 20 seconds, then leapt up and grabbed them. Both of these kids nearly went into cardiac arrest and man, we laughed our guts out!! All, very innocent, yet traumatizing, fun.
