When my kids were in school, we got tp’ed but they were noisy and I heard them and went out and chase them off. The one guy hid in the bushes. Unfortunately for him I snuck up behind him and grabbed him by the back of the neck and took him into custody hahaha. I made him think I was all ticked off and the next morning when I woke up it was all gone. Then for years after that when I would see him at various High School events I would walk up behind him and grab him by the back of the neck and say deja vu and laugh laugh laugh.
When I was a kid in the 70s, the “evil-doers” would “stick horns”. They would get into unlocked cars in peoples’ driveways and wedge a stick in the steering wheel so the horn would be stuck blaring. THis was before car alarms, so a loud constant horn sound was NOT a typical thing. The kids would usually lock the car door when they left, just to create a little more havoc for the car owner. When I was about 17 or 18, my brother and I put our 1969 Olds Delta 88 out at the end of the driveway, then we hid in the back seat under a blanket, waiting for unsuspecting horn-stickers. It only took about ten minutes for two teens to open the door and go to work on the steering wheel. We waited about 20 seconds, then leapt up and grabbed them. Both of these kids nearly went into cardiac arrest and man, we laughed our guts out!! All, very innocent, yet traumatizing, fun.
