pearlandpeach, if its true (I don’t think it is, but…) that the ACLU has outlived its original purpose, if it went away tomorrow it would be needed again next week (like that other bugbear, The Unions).

I’ve given them money, and the only reason I’m not a Card-Carrying Member is that I don’t like to be on mailing lists…

Many of the prisoners in Gitmo have been held on nothing more than “suspicion of being suspicious”, and ought to be freed. It’s the Constitutional right to due process of law.

If there are no legal grounds to hold and/or prosecute them, gotta let ‘em go. If there are legal grounds, then the Gov’t ought to prosecute them.

Fritz, I’m all for getting the trials for the GITMO prisoners over with and releasing any who weren’t fighting against us. That’s just common sense (which means our politicians have a hard time figuring it out). That doesn’t mean we should bring them onto US soil to do it.

I a member of the Civil Liberties Union. And I am a lawyer. Don’t make a lot of money though. Public Defender. Hmmm…those fangs they gave me when I was called to the the Bar are starting to make sense now!!
