I went to see “Planet of the Apes” at a retro theater a while back, and was surprised to hear grown adults saying as they exited, “Did you know that was how it was going to end?” Obviously I was wrong, but I thought it was so iconic by now, that no one would be surprised. (Having learned my lesson, I’m trying not to let slip any spoilers.)
