Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for October 17, 2012
Transcript:
Miss Bliss: What a cute rabbit! Does it have a name? Alice: "Polyfill." My brother read it on the tag. Alice: She's actually a doggie chew-toy that I rescued. If I hadn't, she would've been ripped to shreds, like on those animal TV shows with all the lions and the blood and guts all over the place. Alice: Then the hyenas show up and it's - Hey, Miss Bliss? Alice: Adults never pay enough attention to me. Beni: I have the opposite problem.

Adults have to pay attention to Beni.
Richard had his surgery the other day, and was drawing during the procedure. :-D

Polyfill is a good name for a limp stuffed rabbit (totally unlike Monsieur Smokey, a lewd, chauvinistic stuffed bunny, over at C’est la Vie). And as long as Beni is toting that big hammer, he’ll get the attention of adults….

Where’s Beni’s adult supervision now?

A better joke in the first panel than most daily strips have in their entirety.

Walk softly and carry a big hammer!

Wow! Thanks to Richard. We should declare him a national treasure. His strips (old or new) always come through when a laugh is needed.

I love this! I used to do this exact same thing all the time! I’d often ‘rescue’ dog toys by taking them to be my stuffed animals – my mother constantly wondered what happened to all the new toys she bought :)

I believe she “rescued” Polyfill from a pet store. Her Mom has the full story, which we will eventually get to hear.
