I’m an agnostic but this guy is an idiot. At the minimum he should know that Jews don’t eat pork, or does he know a wanted a doubly offensive cartoon.

Knowing the history of religions, they’ll go to war over this and only us atheists will survive.

jonesb: They were under Roman occupation and the Romans did eat pork. One of the accounts had Jesus putting the demons of mental illness into a sounder of swine who promptly drowned. The act of defiling the temple after the Maccabee revolt involved sacrificing a pig there. Do your own research first..mikefive: Which Mary? Miriam was a very common name then..cdward: One theory as to Paulon Tarsia’s “thorn in the flesh” was the support of a mother-in-law. Since he was a member of the Sanhedrin, he had to have been married at sometime. Not a rule, but a custom, rabbis are married and Jesus is referred to as rabbi (teacher) in several accounts. There is the period between age 12 and 30, totally unaccounted for in scripture. Big deal over inconsequentials.

Re the pig: Maybe he married a shiksa. Probably broke his poor mother’s heart.

This is called “Balanced Cartoon Humor”. One, or more cartoons disparaging a certain religios figure MUST be balanced by cartoons disparaging all the other religious figures. I’m waiting for the other cartoons next!

Cue the Joan Osborne music. I like this cartoon. Some may object on religious grounds while others may not like the misogynistic tones that may be perceived. But it is a good laugh.

Does not help that the Gnostics were big on Jesus being married to Mary M and that she was in the know. Before celibacy, it was not really a big deal either way. Some churches have very extended scriptures, possibly with less solid foundations. There was so much thirst and so little you could trust. Irrelevant, yes, unless you need to keep women down every way you can.

The full translation of the papyrus:

And JESUS spake thus: “My wife said I must attend some wedding this weekend, so I must needs pass on the fishing trip” whereto Peter replied: “Will there be wine at least?” whereto JESUS answered: “If there isn’t, verily there SHALL be!”

“What if Jesus had 12 wives with 12 children with each wife?”

Did every child have 12 sacks, and every sack have 12 cats, and every cat have 12 kittens?

You can’t fool me, it’s a trick! YOU were the only one going to St. Ives, and they were all going the other way!

I have it on good authority that the Jesus mentioned here is one Jesus Martinez an illegal who did lawn and garden work in Jerusalem during this time.
