Another reason why men and women should live apart…or, at least in their own beds like they showed on TV in the 50’s. Remember the Dick Van Dike show? Each had their own bed—I know, I saw it….week after week, etc…..
HA! My previous comment was censored for the name of the “Dick Van Dike” show—–I had to purposefully mispell his last name because they put the word “bleep” in it for the real name. Just to prove it, I will type in his real name and see what shows…..The Dick Van bleeep Show.
Obvisously, none of the previous postees are married. This is so true to life! Yes, blinking is a way to comically blow it out of proportion, but it is certianly true of things like chewing, sollowing, or even page turning. I love this!
How long have these two been married? Are they trying to tell us that for 50 years (or whatever it is) Opal has had a hissy fit every time Earl blinks? Honest to pete how have they stuck with each other?
My husband makes some really gross noises when he eats which have been hard to tune out but I don’t say something every time I hear him. Just sometimes.
I know a person you can tickle just by making tickling motions without even touching. The mere suggestion of being tickled is enough to cause a reaction.
My ex-wife used to insist that we keep the radio on all night, and the fan even in winter, and though she had an outlet on HER side of the bed, she insisted that both these things be on my side, blowing over me!
And this was back in the good old days of our relationship.
Women exist to torment the men who love them.
Well Opal this sounds like a “you” problem not an Earl problem. Earl does plenty of annoying things but if simply existing (& all that entails including blinking) is too annoying for you, perhaps you should work on that
plus Opal says she “can’t help” being bothered but she expects Earl to do something about blinking?! (Which is of course something someone actually can’t help doing!) She’s being completely unreasonable

Good luck with finding a solution to THAT!

Earl sits on the couch most of the day. Isn’t that more than enough time to get his book read. Besides the page turning keeps Opal awake too.

a simple solution to save the marriage is that they need separate bedrooms, or at least separate beds

Maybe separate houses.

Dick Van Dyke’s original name was bleeep Van Lesbian.
(Can I say that here?)
((Later:)) Nope. A medical term for a male organ got bleeeped there.

Opal, close your eyes tight so you don’t have to be awake every minutes!
