My (adult) daughters recently laughed at me when I referred to roller blades as “inline skates” - I was sooooo 1990, they said. At least I’m not alone!
Joe, turns out the consensus here is that in-line skating is always referred to as rollerblading, but it may be a regional thing. My idea of skating involved solid metal contraptions that attached to my shoes, which shows my lack of sophistication! (But they got me to and from school for a few years…)

Back in college when I was learning to inline skate (having never even roller skated before) … our motto was:
“Pain is temporary. Glory is forever. Chicks dig scars”
