Alice: It's the Twelfth Day of Christmas! Petey: I know. Alice: You have to give Viola her present today. Petey: I know! Alice: If you don't, PFFT, no more chances to give Christmas presents. Petey: I KNOW. GO AWAY! Alice: Hey. How come nobody's giving me a present today? Dill: Uh-oh.

Per the always âtake it for what itâs worthâ Wiki:
The Twelve Days of Christmas are the festive days beginning Christmas Day (25 December). This period is also known as Christmastide. The Twelfth Day of Christmas is 5 January[1], with the celebrations of Christmas traditionally ending on Twelfth Night and is followed by the Feast of the Epiphany on 6 January. In some traditions the first day of Epiphany and the twelfth day of Christmas overlap.
Sounds like you can make the argument either way, though this storyline may stretch out the âdayâ in any case..

The twelfth day of Christmas would be the eve of Epiphany, cf. Halloween, the eve of All Saints Day. Keats wrote about the eve of St. Agnes. Anyway, Pete following the model of Humpty Dumpty, can give it to Viola as an unChristmas present.

I didnât really check on this and I shouldâve. I just asked my wife, who usually knows such things. The sixth is my younger daughterâs half-birthday, so we go with that.
More from Wikipedia- It is defined by the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary as âthe evening of the fifth of January, preceding Twelfth Day, the eve of the Epiphany, formerly the last day of the Christmas festivities and observed as a time of merrymakingâ.[1] However, there is currently some confusion as to which night is Twelfth Night:[2] some count the night of Epiphany itself (sixth of January) to be Twelfth Night.[2] One source of this confusion is the Medieval custom of starting each new day at sunset, so that Twelfth Night precedes Twelfth Day.
