You can get to school in a city by taking a city bus…if it’s really too far to walk (what’s “walk”?). That’s called “public transportation”, kids….dig around for your bus pass.

In Texas, you may not use a school bus if you live within two miles (map straight line, not actual route) of your school. Two plus miles in a minus wind chill or 100+F no shade is a bit rough on a six-year-old, but it enables the state to continue to subsidize the “awl bidness”.

The “Cobb Family” and their neighbors/relatives “The Glover Family” are set on a real Philadelphia Street called Vine Street, right off the Ben Franklin Parkway. The homes look like what I’ve depicted in my strip.
