Boy: They say no teetering and no gum. But put the two together and maybe...
Frazz: Hmm. Negatives do cancel each other out in certain math applications.
One of my classroom rules (way back in my teaching days) was “Six feet on the floor: two of your own and four of the chair’s”. Only had one kid flip backwards from not following it: the rest of the class caught on quickly.
I had a prof (a very good one) who was chuckling “I can’t believe I’m paid to do this”, my audible reply was “Me, neither.” What was the result…double negative yields a positive; he was tough, but we liked him.
When I heard that joke, it was a Russian language prof telling about how in Russian 2 negatives is still negative, but there was no known language where 2 possitives would = a negative.

Maybe…if the gum were actually a high-strength balloon,if he exhaled helium or very hot air,and if he weighed less than five pounds.

some people like spicy chilis, and some people like vodka…well, put them together, and someone made ghost chili infused vodka.

I tell my students to not lean back because I do not have time to fill out an accident report and I do not want blood on my carpet… :)

Did he just fantasize, or are we supposed to believe this actually happened? I hope the former, because “Frazz” hasn’t been so cartoony before.

This reminds me of an old joke:
Teacher: Sometimes two negatives can be a positive, but two positives can never be a negative.Student: yeah right
