I have a gold fish who splashes me when I open the lid to feed him/her. It’s getting big enough to make a big splash to let me know it’s breakfast time!
Decades of watching nature documentaries haven’t shown me hydroplaning fish. But I have seen dolphins doing it to chase fish up against beaches where they are easier to catch. (I always root for the mammal, being one myself.)

At least he’s back in the bowl and not dried up on the floor! That fish bowl needs a cover.
