    He was great in the 1953 “War of the Worlds”. And don’t forget “Burke’s Law”.

    Died Dec. 9 at age 90 per IMDb.com. Don’t know why the year-end obituaries failed to mention this charming and reliable actor.

    I don’t remember even a notice in the morning news (I listen through breakfast every day)… many passings this year whose names I recognize (unlike daily birthdays where I often don’t know a single one).

    at the risk of stating the obvious , Gene Barry’s Masterson character’s distinctions were the derby hat and of course the baton…..

    like the chuck connor’s lever action rifle and steve mcqueen’s sawed off rifle and scott brady’s shotgun and hugo obrien’s buntline special

    and yes, to me, his all time famous role was doctor clayton forrester who pretty much did nothing but run and hide from the martians in the 1953 classic….. the special effects are laughable now, but state of the art and totally cool in ‘53
