Transcript:
Laura: You did a great job cleaning out the basement, honey. So why the long face? Adam: It made me feel old. Clayton: ...These are "8-track tapes", and these things on dad's old shirt are called "rhinestones". Katy: Eww. That shirt smells like fritos. Clayton: Yes. Apparantly there was a dance in the olden days called "The Hustle" and it could work up quite a sweat if done properly.

Aren’t we glad disco is gone….forever?
Allen Rymer over 15 years ago
Unfortunately, I’m afraid that isn’t completely true. What is a scary thought is having disco show up in another 10 - 20 years classified as a category in something like “Dancing with the Stars”

Not that I was a fan of disco, but with the death of one fad usually brings a worse form of musical expression.

With disco dancing, I never could figure out how you knew if it was done correctly.

I immersed myself into a previous generations culture by buying old music, radio shows, magazines and newspapers from estate sales. It was like traveling back in time. I felt like I had gained the wisdom of living two lives.

Disco became the basis for my theory that guys will listen to anything girls seem to like, if they think it might get them laid.

How old is Adam supposed to be, 50? Disco was the late 70’s, early 80’s. That makes him in his late 40’s at the youngest. They must have had those kids late in llife.

Adam feels old? Disco was AFTER my time. I always did like the t-shirt that one of the recruits wore in the movie Stripes: “Death Before Disco”.

Not true with Disco. That where Raves came from, and techno is arguably much cooler than disco. Raves are cool too if that’s your cup of tea.

@yyyguy: YOUR theory? Come on, you know guys will do ANYTHING if they think it might get them laid. Even go to a chick flick (if they’re really, really desperate, and can’t see any other option).

i never meant to claim copyright! EVERY guy comes to this realization eventually, usually without realizing that other guys have done so as well. god forbid we talk to each other about feelings.

yyyguy, Greatest comedy actor of all time, John Candy, and yes he is sorely missed! Planes Trains and Automobiles, The Great Outdors, Summer Rental, etc etc I laugh my A S S off everytime I see those movies, and I’ve seen them a hundred times!!! The Great Outdoors, as he’s running into the cabin, “Bear, big bear… …! Priceless!

Don’t forget John Laroquette as the clueless captain and the late Warren Oates as the sergeant who was “blessed” with that group of oddballs and idiots.
